Custom Business Cards | Oregon Social Media

Twin Ravens Press is very excited to be working with Don Jeter and his fiance, Stephanie, at Oregon Social Media.  Oregon Social Media is a new company based here in Eugene that specializes in helping businesses and non-profit organizations understand and use social media.  Whether it’s helping your business network with consumers and other businesses and organizations through social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and Google+, or helping you start or manage a blog, or put on a guerrilla marketing campaign, Oregon Social Media is your source to turn to.

We were excited to work with Don and Stephanie on letterpress printing their business cards this past December.  Don’s cards are printed on a heavy, 100% cotton, duplex weight stock in three ink colors.  The logo side of the card was printed in two different greens with the word “Oregon” being a knock-out to the white of the paper.  This made the “Oregon” stand up a little bit while the words “Social Media” and outline of the state were pressed into the paper.  It was a very fun logo to letterpress print!  The back side of their card features their website and contact information.  I love the clean, modern look of this design!

Shortly after printing their business cards, we were also hired to print a really sweet set of coasters for their office!  These were printed in light green on our 3.5″ square, recycled pulp-board coaster stock.  Aren’t they cool?!?

Weddings | Jihee & Isaac

The suite you see above was another one of my favorites that we got to print last summer!  All of the pieces in this very modern and beautiful suite were designed by the bride, Jihee, and then letterpress printed by us.  The main invitation suite included an A7 invitation printed in two ink colors with corresponding envelope, and a single-color rsvp card with corresponding envelope.

One of the elements that really tied all of the different pieces in Jihee & Isaac’s wedding stationery together was the meticulous and gorgeous, hand-drawn script text that Jihee created for her and Isaac’s names on their invitation, and then used for a variety of other elements throughout the other pieces in her suite.  Creating a font by hand (particularly a script) can be a very slow and meticulous process, and Jihee’s was beautiful and absolutely flawless.  I love how the words are all linked together too, and how the ends of each line trail off of the page.  So fun!!

In the photo on the left above, you can see the invitation all by itself.  As I mentioned above, I love that their custom script names are a focal point in the design, but I also love how Jihee had us print one single line in the middle of the block of text in a bright pink, while the rest is printed in a subtle, delicate light grey.  The combination of a bold splash of color with an otherwise very delicate and subtle one is really striking!  Jihee chose to have us print all of her stationery on Holyoke 100% cotton rag 140# paper in bone white.  The bone white is Holyoke’s whitest white and I think that this paper also helped really make the letterpress printing and combination of subtle and bold colors stand out.  For envelopes, we paired this invite with a very light “cement” grey envelope from Waste Not Paper Company and printed Jihee and Isaac’s return address in a darker grey on the envelope flap.  Registration was a little bit tricky on the envelope printing as the ends of their names trail off of the flap, but it turned out really, really cool!

Jihee designed her reply card and envelope in the same style and we printed them in light grey only.  I love how both the “m” and “kindly reply” lines of the reply card were done in Jihee’s same custom script.  The white rsvp envelope was also printed in grey ink with Jihee’s address on the front.

The image you see above was taken by Jihee & Isaac’s wedding photographer on their big day.  I wanted to show it off as well in order to show you Jihee’s custom envelope liner that she designed herself.  In Jihee’s words:

The idea behind them [the envelope liners] was to have a bold punch of color with some personal element. I played around with having a pattern or motif, but ultimately decided upon the graphic of the three skylines of the cities we’ve lived in together! Boston, for where we met, Chicago, where we spent the most formative years of our relationship, and finally New York City, where we got engaged and now currently live!  I’m not sure that every one of our guests might have gotten that subtle message (especially the ones that tore the side of the envelope open and didn’t even see the liner at all!) but it was fun for me to design!

I think they’re just lovely!

The final pieces we letterpress printed for Jihee and Isaac were a set of thank you cards for them to send out after the wedding.  Each thank you card set featured an A2 size flat thank you card printed in the same bright pink ink we used on the invitation, and a matching light grey envelope printed with their return address on the flap in the same style as the invitation envelope.

Aren’t those pretty?!?  I love how the thank you cards still look beautiful and formal without having a lot of text or extra design elements to them.  I also, again, love Jihee’s custom script that she created for the words “thank you”.  It was such a nice pairing with her more modern, all-caps, san-serif font.

Jihee was kind enough to share some additional photos with us from her wedding!  I love how she was able to incorporate her beautiful graphic design elements into other parts of the wedding such as her table numbers, signs, place cards, and programs.  All of the details looked just beautiful!

Weddings | Stephanie & Brad

The gorgeous couple you see above almost needs no introduction.  If you are a reader of WeddingBee, you’ve probably already met the bride, Stephanie.  She’s Mrs. Panther!  I had the pleasure of working with her and her now-husband, Brad, last year on some really awesome floral wedding invitations and I’m excited to finally be showing them off!  Check ’em out:

Stephanie created her own invitation design and hired us to letterpress print it!  The letterpress parts of the suite were an A7 invitation printed in two ink colors with a corresponding A7 envelope and smaller, 4bar RSVP envelope.

The A7 invite features an awesome, violet, floral design on both the back and front.  The typography was a fun mix of modern san-serifs and scripts printed in a light, but bright blue and violet within a modern violet frame.

I love how bold and non-traditional Stephanie and Brad’s colors were, and I also love how she was able to incorporate classic, traditional elements, like flowers and scripts, into the design, as well as bold colors and modern typefaces.  It’s not something you see done very often and when it’s done this well, it looks just awesome!!

Something else that was totally cool about these invites was the bright teal edge-painting on the invitations.  All of Steph and Brad’s invites were edge painted with a shimmery teal-green paint that really added some extra pizazz to each one!  Check out that awesome pop-of-color more closely in the images below!

Twin Ravens Press also printed some lovely envelopes for Stephanie & Brad’s suite.  Both the invitation and rsvp envelopes were a dark, shimmery blue paper printed with gold ink.  The calligraphy for the fronts of all the invitation envelopes as well as the letterpress return address on the back, was created by Michele Clark of Calligraphy by Michele.  Michele’s awesome!  We’ve worked on several different projects together over the years and her work is always beautiful!

Baby Announcements | Lucas Hudson

This past fall, we worked with an awesome family in New York City on a very cute set of birth announcements for their second son, Lucas.  These announcements were simple and adorable, just like a brand new baby boy!  You can see the announcement we designed and printed above.  It’s an A2 size and was printed in two ink colors with matching white envelopes.

One of my favorite things about designing baby announcements are the cute fonts and colors!  Lucas’ announcements were printed in orange and brown and featured two different, adorable fonts and a hand-drawn baby kangaroo with a little orange hopping trail printed behind him.

Aren’t those just adorable?!?  I love ’em! Lucas’ mom, Kim, also had us design a matching set of flat thank you notes as well.  The thank you cards were also an A2 size and were printed on the same 100% cotton rag Holyoke paper as the announcements. They featured the cute kangaroo and Lucas’ full name in orange at the top.  We paired them with white envelopes with the Pillemer’s return address letterpress printed on the back flap.

Custom Business Cards | Calligraphy Katrina & Maison du Papier

Since I started Twin Ravens Press in 2007, I’ve had the pleasure of working with several awesome calligraphers from around the country!  One of my favorites, however, is Katrina Centeno of Calligraphy Katrina & Maison du Papier.  Katrina’s work is absolutely beautiful and I’m more than happy to recommend her to any of our couples who are looking for wedding calligraphy.  I was also super-excited this past fall when she asked me to letterpress print her business cards.  

The cards you see above are a standard business card size and were printed on 100% cotton rag Holyoke paper in Antique White.  We used a stunning burgundy ink, which I think looks fabulous with Katrina’s calligraphy.  Both her logo and name were done in calligraphy and we used a classic roman font for her contact information.  If you’re in need of an awesome calligrapher, contact Katrina!

Weddings | Jennifer & Ari

Happy Friday Everyone!  The wedding invitations you see above are easily one of my top 10 favorite invitation suites from last year!  Jennifer and Ari were so entirely awesome to work with and I just love their designs!  Jen & Ari’s suite included a 6.25″ square invitation printed in two ink colors with a coordinating, lined envelope, an A2 size reply card and envelope, an A2 size directions card and a smaller website card.  Everything was printed in a super-fun and unique combination of kelly green and navy blue colors, and the combination of script and modern fonts we used is just awesome!

One of the things that really sets the design of Jen & Ari’s invitation apart from many others is that, while we incorporated some script into their invitation design, we didn’t use it for their names or much of the prominent wording at all.  Instead, Jennifer & Ari’s names were printed centrally in kelly green ink and were done in a stylish, modern, all-caps font with the other invitation text layed out around them.  We printed a small, thin green border about 1/8″ in from the edges of the card and used the same lines to accent and separate other information in the design.  I love the large, decorative flourish coming off of the script “and”.  We managed to incorporate this single flourish into almost all of the other pieces in their suite.

Jen & Ari’s invitation was printed on luxurious, 100% cotton, duplex Crane Lettra paper.  The paper is super thick and soft which makes for a gorgeous letterpress impression!

We designed the return address on their invitation envelope to match the fonts used on the invite and printed it in navy blue.

Jen and Ari’s reply card was an A2 size, also printed on duplex Crane Lettra paper.  The card is double-sided and features a couple of lines for guests to write their names, whether or not they’re attending, a spot to indicate whether or not they need a kosher meal option, and lines to write in requests for the band and the bartender.  We managed to incorporate all of the fonts from the invite on to this card and all of the lines and check boxes were printed in the same kelly green ink.  The back side of the reply card was blank, except for a header at the top.  I hope they got a lot of notes on these reply cards!

We paired Jen & Ari’s reply cards with kelly green envelopes from Waste Not Paper Company and printed their return address on the front in navy blue ink.

In the top left photo in the grouping below you can see an individual image of Jen & Ari’s invite envelope.  The envelope was a 6.25″ square one from Waste Not Paper Company printed with the couples’ return address on the flap in navy ink.  Jen picked out an total awesome, modern, floral decorative paper for her envelope liners.  The envelope liner pattern featured 3 different blues, including navy, kelly green and copper and they were absolutely gorgeous!  I think that adding a liner like this was a great way to add a little bit of floral to an otherwise very modern suite.

Below the photo of the envelopes you can see an image of Jen & Ari’s website card.  We designed this card in two ink colors to match the other pieces.  This was a very small insert measuring only 3.5″x2.5″ – the perfect size for your website information!

Jen & Ari also wanted to include a separate insert with directions to their venue, The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers,  and information on alternative transportation for guests who didn’t wish to drive in New York City.  The directions card was an A2 size and was printed in navy ink.

For the reception, Jen had us print up a set of coordinating place cards with a kelly green border and decorative flourishes.  She then had her calligrapher write each of the guest’s names in navy ink on each one.

The final piece we designed for Jen & Ari was a coordinating set of thank you cards for them to send out after the wedding.  These cards were an A2 folded size featuring the same styling we used in the main invitation suite and both ink colors: green and navy.  For the envelopes, we chose to go with navy this time, and re-incorporated the touch of copper from their invitation envelope liners into the return address color on their thank you card envelopes.  Then, Jen found a totally sweet and playful green paper with white and yellow daisies on it that we used for the envelope liners for her thank you card envelopes!  I think this was a totally cute pairing, and again love the floral + modern combination of styles.

Weddings | Hilary & Paul

If you’re looking for something beautiful and formal, but slightly different from the norm, I think you’ll love these gorgeous script wedding invitations we designed and letterpress printed for Hilary & Paul of Alexandria, Virginia last year.  Hilary and Paul were getting married in a formal celebration in Maryland and wanted a gorgeous and unique invitation to reflect the style of their wedding.  The above is what we came up with!  Hilary and Paul’s suite featured an A7 size wedding invite and invitation envelope, and an A2 size rehearsal dinner invitation and RSVP postcard.

Their wedding invitation was a traditional A7 size, printed entirely in a glamorous script typeface with some lovely flourish accents in two of the corners.  The invite was printed in metallic silver ink on Stardream Onyx paper.  This paper is almost black and very shimmery, and the silver ink stands out beautifully on it.  Their rehearsal dinner invitation was also printed in silver ink on the same shimmery black stock, but on a slightly smaller A2 size card instead.  

I love how classic and formal the design of these pieces is, but I also love the fact that the paper/ink combination and that all of the script is slanted diagonally across the page makes this invitation really stand out from other formal and traditional wedding invitations.

In the top right photo in the grouping below you can see an image of their invitation envelope.  The envelope was a slightly lighter charcoal grey color, but still shimmery.  We printed their return address in calligraphy on the flap, also in silver ink.

In order to make sure that their guests would still be able to write on their reply cards, we decided to print the reply on white paper in silver ink.  Hilary and Paul’s reply cards were a double-sided postcard that featured the french “Réspondez S’il Vous Plaît” on one side and their monogram, return address and reply card information on the opposite side.  I loved how we were able to change up the paper for this piece, but still have it coordinate perfectly with the other pieces in Hilary & Paul’s suite.

The final piece we created for Hilary & Paul was a menu for their reception.  Because the menu had significantly more text than the invite, reply card or rehearsal dinner invitation, we incorporated a couple of non-script fonts in order to make the menu more readable with the fonts being at a smaller size.  I love the border around the design and the fact that we were still able to incorporate the script and colors we’d been using all along into the design.  I’m sure these looked just fabulous at Hilary & Paul’s reception!

Weddings | Kathryn & Jeffrey

Right around this time last year we worked with one of my favorite East Coast designers, Katie M. and a good friend of her’s on a beautiful charcoal grey and pink set of wedding invitations featuring Lilies of the Valley.  If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you’ll remember Katie.  We’ve worked with her several times before.  The first job we ever printed for her was her wedding invitations back in 2009, and I just love all of the projects we’ve worked together on since.  I was super-stoked to print Katie’s, friend Kathryn’s invitations last year that you see above.  The invitation suite featured an A7 size wedding invitation and 4bar size RSVP card printed in grey ink on Holyoke 100% cotton rag paper.  The RSVP envelopes are a lovely shade of pink from Paper Presentation and the outer envelopes are a matching white European style envelope from Waste Not Paper Company.

Check out the gorgeous letterpress impression in Katie’s Lily of the Valley floral design and in the typography!  I just love how the letterpress printing looks on our cotton rag paper!

I love how everything that Katie M. designs coordinates so well with all of her other pieces, without being too matchy-matchy.

Save the Date | Alexandra & Ryan

Happy Monday, ladies & gents!  See the cute couple in the polaroid on the tandem bike with the whippets?  That’s Allie & Ryan.  They got married this past fall in Sonoma, California and hired us to print their Save-the-Dates last spring.  Their save-the-dates were pretty awesome and definitely included some things they cherish as a couple in the design:

One of Allie & Ryan’s friends designed these totally cute save-the-dates that you see above featuring both the tandem bike and the whippets!  Isn’t it cool?!?  I love the fresh, modern and hip aesthetic of the design and I totally dig their colors!  Allie wanted to make sure that her printed pieces were as eco-friendly as possible, so we printed these with vegetable-based inks on 100% bamboo paper.  Bamboo is an extremely renewable resource for paper fiber and makes a thick and lovely off-white paper that’s perfect for letterpress printing!  One of the above photos was included with each save the date they sent out and their matching bamboo envelopes were printed with their return address on the flap.

I just love how awesome these are!  I’ve actually been in contact with Ryan’s sister, Jessica, recently too, and may be helping her with business cards for her awesome floral design business!  Stay tuned for those!
