If you’re in Portland, Oregon, join us tomorrow for the 5th Annual Portland Letterpress Printer’s Fair, held in conjunction with Design Week Portland! This year’s fair is going to be held from noon to 7pm on Saturday, October 12th at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, which is located at 2250 SE Water Avenue. Twin Ravens Press will be selling new greeting cards and paper goods along with old favorites. There will also be several other independent artists, designers and small studios represented at the fair. Come down and visit and see the wide variety of awesome letterpress goods we and our fellow Pacific Northwest artists have to offer. Admission is free and Ninkasi Brewing is donating beer for the event! We hope to see you there!!

I’ve shown this particular design before, but I love it so much that I figured it was time to show it off again! The wedding invitation suite you see above was originally designed by Jihee Wu, and printed by us, for her own wedding in 2011, but Australian couple, Emma and Joseph, saw it on our site, and loved it so much, that they hired Jihee and I to recreate it for their wedding!
Their suite includes an A7 size invitation, printed in two colors, with a coordinating envelope, and an A2 size reply card with coordinating envelope. All of the pieces were printed on Crane Lettra Pearl White Paper. The envelopes we used were from Waste Not Paper Company.
I just love the contrast in this design between the super-modern, san-serif type used for the majority of the invitation and the lovely, custom script Jihee created for the names. I also love how we made the single line “joyfully invite you to their wedding” stand out by printing it in such a bright pink! The address on the invite envelope was designed to match using the same script for the names, stretching across the flap and the same modern type for the rest of the address.
The reply card and envelope that you can see below also featured custom script and modern type, printed in grey ink! I love it!!

A little while ago we were hired to print a set of really cool (no pun intended) business cards for COOL Creative, Inc. in Miami, Florida. COOL Creative is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary creative studio with world-class experience in the tourism, entertainment, retail, B2B, non-profit organizations, and hospitality markets. They specialize in developing thoughtful creative that leverages a diverse mix of media platforms so that messages will resonate better with consumers. Check out their website or blog!
COOL Creative’s super-cool business cards were letterpress printed on a custom duplexed black and white stock. The white side featured their contact information and logo, along with a functional QR code in black ink. The reverse, black side featured a repeating pattern of their logo printed in a varnish.
The black and white duplex paper is fancy in and of itself, but in order to make these cards even fancier, we also edge-painted them with a bright, neon green edge paint. Super-COOL!
