Weddings | Renee & Peter
What do you get when a really awesome Australian couple with Scottish roots decides to get married? Really awesome wedding invitations, with a nod to their Scottish heritage. Renee and Peter contacted me earlier this spring about creating a set of wedding invitations for their upcoming wedding in November and I had such a wonderful time working with them, I couldn’t help but show their invites off to you!
Renee and Peter’s suite features so many fun elements including lined envelopes, blind embossing, letterpress printing, and a really fun and unique laser-cut piece!
Renee and Peter’s invitation is a standard A7 size that features a blind embossed woodgrain pattern all over the background and letterpress typography printed in black ink. The design of the invite is casual and fun and I was super-excited when they asked if the graphic at the bottom could be a set of bagpipes! (It was honestly really exciting, no one has ever asked me to draw bagpipes before).
Like many modern couples, Renee and Peter planned to have their guests RSVP online, so we needed some sort of way to indicate where to do that. In order to do that, we took of running with the bagpipe motif and created a custom, laser-cut and engraved set of double-sided website cards out of maple wood veneer that featured their website address on one side and the password on the opposite. The wooden bagpipe cards were then tied around each invitation with jute twine.
Aren’t they just too cool!?! This combined with the green and navy blue tartan envelope liner you see in the top photo, I think, were a really nice nod to their Scottish roots! I’m imagining that there will be some awesome photos of gentlemen in kilts, possibly playing bagpipes, to come from this wedding in just a few short months!
Renee & Peter, thanks so much again for working with us! You two are awesome!!
