Weddings | Renee & Peter

Renee1

What do you get when a really awesome Australian couple with Scottish roots decides to get married?  Really awesome wedding invitations, with a nod to their Scottish heritage.  Renee and Peter contacted me earlier this spring about creating a set of wedding invitations for their upcoming wedding in November and I had such a wonderful time working with them, I couldn’t help but show their invites off to you!

Renee and Peter’s suite features so many fun elements including lined envelopes, blind embossing, letterpress printing, and a really fun and unique laser-cut piece!

Renee4

Renee and Peter’s invitation is a standard A7 size that features a blind embossed woodgrain pattern all over the background and letterpress typography printed in black ink.  The design of the invite is casual and fun and I was super-excited when they asked if the graphic at the bottom could be a set of bagpipes!  (It was honestly really exciting, no one has ever asked me to draw bagpipes before).

Like many modern couples, Renee and Peter planned to have their guests RSVP online, so we needed some sort of way to indicate where to do that.  In order to do that, we took of running with the bagpipe motif and created a custom, laser-cut and engraved set of double-sided website cards out of maple wood veneer that featured their website address on one side and the password on the opposite.  The wooden bagpipe cards were then tied around each invitation with jute twine.

Aren’t they just too cool!?!  This combined with the green and navy blue tartan envelope liner you see in the top photo, I think, were a really nice nod to their Scottish roots!  I’m imagining that there will be some awesome photos of gentlemen in kilts, possibly playing bagpipes, to come from this wedding in just a few short months!

Renee & Peter, thanks so much again for working with us!  You two are awesome!!

Custom Business Cards | Michael Werner

Michael1

It’s really cool to have really cool friends.  I think that goes without saying, but it’s nice to point it out every now and again.

I met Michael Werner and his wife, Katie, four years ago when both were teaching Journalism at the University of Oregon, and they were looking for someone to create their wedding invitations.  The wedding invitations we did for them are still one of my favorite suites we’ve done, ever, and after doing the job, the three of us became great friends.  Michael and Katie moved north to Seattle not too long after that, but we’ve kept in touch, and I was super-excited when Michael contacted me about creating a set of business cards for him.

Michael’s snazzy cards are black & red and feature some awesome blind embossing of a photograph he took outside of Seattle on one side.  They were printed on super-thick Crane Lettra Bright White paper and feature really bright red edge painting.  They really stand out from the crowd!

Michael2Michael is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker, cinematographer and editor who’s work has been featured by PBS, The New York Times Company, The Associated Press, and The U.S. Olympic Committee, among others.  His work has also been shown at the Cannes International Film Festival.  If you’d like to learn more about Michael and his work, check out his website!

Thanks so much for working with me on these, Michael!  I’m so glad we’ve kept in touch!

Post Cake!

Postcake1I’m pretty excited to announce a very fun little project that I’ve been working on with a good friend, and owner of Funhouse Productions, in Eugene, Drew Parrish!  Together we created the Post Cake!  Post Cake is a mailable, 3-dimensional postcard, shaped like a real piece of chocolate cake.  The frosting even smells like chocolate!  All you have to do is add stamps, and the post office will take care of the rest (no box or extraneous packaging material is required for mailing).  Each cake has a letterpress printed postcard on the back with space for your own personal message.

These cakes are available in our Etsy shop for $12.00/ea.  We’re also gladly accepting bulk, wholesale and custom orders!  Go check them out!

Weddings | Alicia & Tim

Alicia1In the spirit of Throwback-Thursday, I’d like to show you one of my favorite wedding invitation suites from a couple of years ago that I just hadn’t gotten around to putting up on the blog, until now!  This suite was designed by New York City designer, Jihee Wu, for Melbourne, Australia couple, Alicia and Tim!  I love how modern and timeless this suite is and how it utilizes many of the lovely things that letterpress printing has to offer, in such an elegant and classic way!
Alicia3Alicia4Alicia & Tim’s invitation suite featured a 5.5″ square invitation, letterpress printed in a charcoal grey ink on 100% cotton Crane Lettra Pearl White Paper.  The suite also featured matching grey envelopes that were letterpress printed with black ink.  All of Alicia and Tim’s pieces incorporated a blind embossed monogram, which you can see at the top of the invite in the above photos.

Other pieces included a single color (gray) reply postcard and a smaller reception card with their wedding website info at the bottom.

We also printed a gorgeous set of simple, modern thank you cards, and matching menus and ceremony programs for the day of the wedding.  Alicia & Tim’s thank you cards and thank you card envelopes are pictured below!
