Twin Ravens Press is very excited to have been invited by Passionflower Design to do a letterpress demo in their store in downtown Eugene tonight for the First Friday Artwalk. Come out, enjoy the Artwalk, pick up a Christmas card and a gift, or two, and visit me while I demonstrate printing on a tabletop 6″x10″ Kelsey Letterpress! I’ll be printing the holiday tags pictured above, and will also have Christmas cards and tags available for purchase. If you’ve ever wanted to check out what I do in person, tonight would be a great opportunity for it! I’ll be there demo-ing from 5 pm – 8 pm. Passionflower Design is located at 128 E. Broadway (between Pearl St. & Oak St.) in Eugene, Oregon.
Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with a lovely couple who I know through the dance community who are getting married in Portland, Oregon next summer. Matthew and Lea wanted a simple, but elegant, letterpress save-the-date card to announce their upcoming nuptials incorporating some kind of rose motif and art deco styling. I think we nailed it.
The save-the-dates you see below are 4″x6″ and were printed on an Antique White 100% cotton paper with chocolate brown ink. They are double-sided and feature the save-the-date information and rose motif on the front, and a simple backside for the recipient’s address on the reverse. We were able to incorporate a vintage, art deco border design and 1920s-style fonts into the design to make it really look as though it were right out of that era! They really turned out beautifully!
Incorporate a photograph into your next custom letterpress printed piece and get 20% off your order during the month of December! Twin Ravens Press has created many fun, unique, cards and invitations over the years which incorporate photos in really interesting ways! From everything from Save-the-Date Cards. to holiday cards. to thank you notes, incorporating a photo can be a really fun way to spice up your letterpress order!
Christmas is coming up soon and a lot of our customers are placing their orders for holiday cards! Check out these awesome photo holiday cards we created for The Boege family in Chicago in 2012. These cards are folded and feature letterpress printing on the front and inside in two ink colors. A circular window was die-cut into the front to reveal a tipped-in photograph on the inside. So cute!!
Did you know that the time of year between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day is the most common time of year for couples to get engaged? With that in mind, we know that a lot of you will be interested in Save-the-Date cards in the coming months! Check out these beautiful and playful save-the-dates which also feature photographs. The first one has a photo strip incorporated into the design!
The save the date below features classic styling, letterpress printing in one ink color, and a black & white photo of the lovebirds tipped on to the front. This is another great way to incorporate your photo into a save-the-date!
We created the above postcard earlier this summer for the newlyweds to use as a thank you card after their wedding! Their wedding photo was digitally printed on linen paper and then was custom duplexed to a 100% cotton backing sheet that we then letterpress printed with a postcard design! This is a wonderful, classy way to incorporate a digitally printed photo into a letterpress printed piece!
Last, but not least, don’t forget baby announcements! Twin Ravens Press had the joy of printing the announcements below for one of my best friends, shortly after the birth of her first son! The letterpress printing was done in two inks and one foil color and then a real, black & white photo of Miles was tipped on to the left of the text! Adorable.
Want to take advantage of our deal of the month? Place your order featuring the incorporation of a photograph with a signed contract and deposit no later than December 31, 2015, and receive 20% off* your printing.
*Please note that our offer excludes platemaking and shipping.
Check out these awesome, letterpress, post card, thank you cards that we just finished for recent newly-weds Destiny & Daniel of Eugene, Oregon! These postcard thank you’s feature a digitally printed photograph from their wedding on a linen paper that we then custom duplexed onto our 100% cotton letterpress paper and then printed their postcard design on the back! Doing this is a fantastic and seamless way to incorporate a photograph into your letterpress printed piece!
These post cards are 6″x4″ and are a perfect way to send a quick wedding thank you without having to order envelopes or use full-priced envelope stamps! I think this would be a lovely idea for a save-the-date, shower invitation, or holiday card as well! We can even foil stamp extra wording on the front along with the photograph, if you’d like!
Check out this close-up of the awesome letterpress impression we were able to create on the back:
Did you know that Twin Ravens Press also offers custom laser engraving for a wide variety of materials and applications? We create a lot of paper goods here, but we also do a fair bit of engraving into wood, acrylic, leather, fabric and other materials too! Check out this awesome collaboration with local Eugene artist Tim Boyden of Out on a Limb Gallery. Tim was commissioned to build this cool driftwood arbor for one of his client’s upcoming weddings and he hired us to engrave the dragonflies in the sign hanging from the top!
Above is the whole arbor and below you can see detail images of the sign and laser-engraved dragonflies by themselves.
If you’re interested in having some laser cutting or engraving done for an upcoming project of your own, please contact us! We would love to work with you!!

I’ve been keeping this one under my hat for a little while now, friends, because I didn’t want to get super-excited (and, in turn, get you super-excited) until I knew for sure that it was a for-really-reals real thing. Today, however, I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I will be collaborating with Portland-based Cartoonist, Lucy Bellwood, on one of the rewards for her upcoming Kickstarter project (set to launch this coming Monday, July 20th) which will help fund the publication of her newest book: “Baggywrinkles: A Lubber’s Guide to Life at Sea”!
Lucy is an amazing artist and storyteller who I met through my involvement in the dance community, and have had much excitement about collaborating with for quite some time! Her first Kickstarter-funded project, and first full-length comic, True Believer, which can now be downloaded and enjoyed digitally for free (woot!) touched a special part of my heart the first (and several subsequent times) that I read it, as it’s a very real story about what it means to be an artist today, and how it feels to muster the courage to do what you love. Her comics, in general, are witty, poignant, and so incredibly real-to-life-stab-you-in-the-heart-and-soul-with-all-the-feels good (whew, that was a lot of hyphens, but seriously check out these recent ones: Salt Soap and Dance Yourself Clean). Prior to publishing True Believer, though, Lucy has authored and illustrated a short, ongoing, comic-series, entitled Baggywrinkles. From Lucy’s blog:
What is Baggywrinkles, you ask? Why, it’s my educational, autobiographical comic series about living aboard an 18th century tall ship! You can read the first five issues online for free, and check out new content from the series every week on Patreon. I’ve been working on these short stories intermittently since 2010, and I’m finally ready to bring the whole bundle together under one cover.
The Baggywrinkles book is going to be a 6″x9″, softcover collection featuring her already published issues 1-5, the never-before-seen-in-print Issue 6 (all about the history of scurvy), and a host of other exclusive goodies, one of which is the new limited-edition letterpress print she’s collaborating with us on! I couldn’t be more excited! At one point, Lucy created a giant guide to sailors’ tattoos for the Vancouver Maritime Museum, which you can see her standing in front of in the photo below, and we’re going to help her turn it in to a limited-edition 2-color letterpress print! It’s going to be so cool!!

If you are interested in obtaining one of these fine prints for the comics, tattoo and/or sailor-lover in your life, the only way to do so is by going over and supporting Lucy’s Kickstarter campaign. To find out more about the campaign, keep an eye on Lucy’s website, blog, or other social media of your choosing (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, or Instagram). I’ll also try to keep you abreast of what’s going on with this project, ’cause if you couldn’t tell already, I’m a bit excited! Thanks, Lucy! Can’t wait!
In honor of today’s historic ruling by the US Supreme Court on Marriage Equality, Twin Ravens Press would like to extend 20% OFF all new wedding invitations orders to everyone! Please contact [email protected] for more details, a quote or to place an order! Oh Happy Day!!
