We have our fingers crossed that, in spite of Covid-19, local couple, Brooke & Kris, will be able to celebrate their September wedding at The Abernathy Center (@abernethycenter), just outside of Portland, Oregon. Brooke & Kris’ invitations have a timeless, old-school, romantic feeling to them. We letterpress printed both their main invite and details card in the lightest mauve ink on warm, creamy, Crane Lettra Pearl White Paper. Simple, hand-drawn florals, combined with the super-light ink color really adds to the traditional, timeless feel of the suite. We paired these with a coordinating light grey envelope with medium grey return address and matching floral envelope liner to complete the suite.

To say that this year has been unexpected would be a massive understatement. While we offer letterpress printing and graphic design for a wide variety of applications (including, but not limited to, product packaging, business cards, social stationery, greeting cards, art prints, and more), much of our business has relied on (and probably always will rely on) event stationery, like wedding invitations. It was really heartening and tumultuous both for our business, and for our clients, watching a cascade of postponements and cancellations of nearly every event we had plans to work on this year starting in March, with the onset of Covid-19.
While the majority of our wedding clients did postpone to 2021 or beyond, a handful of them pivoted their plans and are rolling with this weird new normal, just not in the way they first anticipated.

One such couple is Anne (@anne_always_wynns) and her soon-to-be husband, Zack, in Salem, Oregon. Anne and Zack originally planned to hold an intimate ceremony and reception in early August with their friends and family in McMinneville, but due to the pandemic, chose to keep their date, but limit their guests to their parents and siblings only. In lieu of sending out a traditional wedding invitation we worked with them to create this stunning elopement announcement instead.

Anne and Zack’s announcements were letterpress printed in dark grey ink and cream hot foil on @mohawkpaper Keaykolour custom duplexed “Matcha Tea” Paper. The design combines a rustic mountainscape and stars with a hint of Art Deco stying in the text and border. Their announcement was paired with a matching China White envelope printed with more mountains and their return address in the same style.

I know Anne and Zack’s celebration this coming weekend will still be wonderful, even if it’s not entirely what they had originally planned, and my fingers are crossed that they’ll be able to hold a larger reception with both family and friends to celebrate next year. Big congrats, Anne & Zack, and thanks again for working with me!

Helping other small business owners amplify their branding and product packaging has been a cornerstone of the work I do at Twin Ravens Press for a really long time.
The cards and hang tags in these images were created for my very talented broommaker and long-time friend, Alyssa, of @hearthcraftbrooms in Eugene. Alyssa’s work is a beautiful combination of ritual, practicality, and craftsmanship. Each of her brooms are one-of-a-kind and are imbued with beauty, sustainability, and a little bit of magic.
Alyssa designed these letterpress cards to function as both Hangtags and business cards. They are letterpress printed on duplexed 100% cotton paper, and feature both black ink and small, blind embossed bits of decorative broom corn on both sides.
