I was putting away samples earlier today and came across this absolutely sweet birth announcement we made last year for one of our long-time clients, Amy. Amy had her second child, a boy, during the summer of 2012 and we created this adorable announcement to announce his birth! Elliot’s announcements were extra fun to create, because Amy wanted them to coordinate with her older daughter’s announcements which we had created back in 2009. If you’d like to check those out, click here. If you visited that link, you’ll notice that both announcements for Amy and Matt’s kiddos are similar in style. They’re both an A2 size and they both feature little buzzing bees. The envelopes are exactly the same, just different colors, but Elliot’s also feature a teddy bear along with the bees. What a cute announcement for the newest addition to Amy, Matt and Cameron’s family!
If you’ve been following our blog or Etsy Shop for a while, you’ll know that one of my favorites of our designs is our Origami Crane String Card. I love this design so much, that I’ve printed it in several different color combinations, and I’m happy to announce that this newest color-way is now available in our Etsy Shop and for wholesale orders! These new cards are an A2 size and come with coordinating light blue envelopes. They are available in sets of 12, sets of 6, and as singles. Please contact us if you’d like to order more than what is currently available on our Etsy site. We gladly welcome bulk and wholesale orders!

One of the things I get asked for, all the time, is whether or not we can “put a modern twist on a classic wedding invitation”. The answer is “Yes!”. Twin Ravens Press prints lots of different “classic” and “traditional” looking wedding invitations, that incorporate modern elements into their design. For example, check out the suite that we created above, last year, for Massachusetts couple, Jackie & Brent. Jackie and Brent wanted a classic, elegant, black & white wedding invitation suite that incorporated a few modern details. Their suite included an invitation and reply card that featured black ink and blind embossing. Matching, white envelopes that were printed with black ink and a paper + ribbon belly band to tie the suite together. We lined the invitation envelope with a custom printed, light blue, damask liner for a touch of color!
As you can see below, the invitation itself is traditional looking. It features a nice, crisp letterpress impression in black ink, script names, roman body font and a decorative blind embossed pattern at the top and bottom to frame the text. These invitations were printed on super-thick, duplex-weight, 100% cotton paper.
As I mentioned above, both sets of envelopes were white and were designed to match the invitation. The reply card was also printed on duplex paper stock and featured blind embossing on the bottom of the card. Jackie & Brent’s belly band medallion was printed in black ink and featured their initials as a scripty monogram. Look how pretty it looked, tying their invitations together with an ivory, satin ribbon!
I love how this suite is a classic, black & white letterpress suite, making it perfect for just about any formal occasion, yet it incorporates some modern and whimsical elements like the belly band and damask envelope liner to add a splash of color! Contact us if you’re seeking something classic, with a contemporary twist for your upcoming event!
I’m thrilled to announce that we now have three new, awesome greeting card designs available in our Etsy shop from our continued collaboration with Eugene artist and designer, Josh Searl. We first began working with Josh just over a year ago and have had two of his adorable monster designs available since (you can find them here and here). I love working with Josh, and think that his creatures are so funny and cute. You can see the three new designs above: two different birds, and one adorable dinosaur. All three of these designs were letterpress printed as 4bar size cards (measuring 3.5″x4.875″) and each comes with a coordinating envelope. They are available as singles for $4.00 each. If you would like to order more than one of any of the designs, or are interested in a mixed set, please email us. Bulk discounts apply.
If you’d like to check out more of Josh’s artwork, you can on his DeviantArt site. Thanks so much again Josh! I just love your work!!

Check out these cute, modern wedding invitations we made last summer for California couple Kirk and Christy! Kirk and Christy were married in the Oregon Coast town of Cannon Beach last August, and I had a ton of fun working with them to create these invites! Above is the full set, which included a monarch size invitation and envelope, a 4bar size reply card and envelope, a smaller website card and a custom, laser cut belly band. Let’s look at all of the pieces individually!
When Kirk originally contacted me, he and Christy wanted to do something fun and quirky with the motif for their invitations! When they had first started dating, one of the first photos they took together was of their hands with tiny octopus and squid finger puppets (see original photo below on the right). I think it’s so cool (and adorable!) that they wanted to somehow incorporate this into their wedding invitations! To do this, I created the drawing you see at the top of the octopus and squid holding hands, and we carried this through all of the pieces in their invitations suite! Their invite is a modern monarch size, measuring 3.75″x7.25″ and was printed in a nice light blue ink on 100% cotton paper. I love the combination of the cute octopus/squid drawing with the simple, serif font we used for the text!
The other pieces in the suite were designed to match the invitation! Below you can see Kirk and Christy’s reply card and envelope as well as their small website card. Additional information could be found on their website, so they didn’t need a bunch of extra insert cards, just a small one directing guests to the website.
The thing that sets this suite apart, in my opinion, from a lot of others, is the awesome way we tied everything together! Kirk and Christy had me design a custom, laser-cut belly band to wrap around the individual pieces in their suite. Because we had been using the “squid and octopus holding hands” theme for the motif, I thought it would be really nice (and awesome) to have their belly band be of the tentacles of the squid and octopus holding hands around all of their stationery. This was a bit of a challenge to figure out how to draw, and then cut, but they turned out so cool!! The belly bands were laser cut in-house out of a shimmery blue paper and they secured all of the pieces in Kirk and Christy’s suite together!
I think everything in this suite turned out so cool! I love the adorable simplicity of the main pieces, and then the totally unique belly band that tied everything together! If you’re interested in adding something really different to your invitation suite, ask us about laser cutting! There’s so much we can do with it that will add just that extra bit of uniqueness to your invitations!
Thanks so much again for working with us Kirk and Christy! I hope you’re having a Happy New Year!
Right before Valentine’s Day this year I had the pleasure of collaborating with an awesome local artist, Josh Searl, on a couple of new greeting card designs! If you’ve visited our Etsy store since then, you’ve already seen these, but I figured they needed a little shout out on our blog too. Josh is a design student at the University of Oregon and has been drawing adorable critters and making other awesome artwork from a very young age. I’m good friends with his aunt and uncle, and was super-excited when Josh agreed to collaborate with me on these cards. We started with two designs, the little blue monster you see above and below, and the little green one with the pink balloon that you’ll see further down in this post.
Aren’t they just adorable?!? Both designs are printed as 4bar size cards on 100% cotton Crane Lettra Pearl White paper and come with coordinating blue or chartreuse envelopes, depending on the design. Josh and I are going to be working on additional designs in this series, so if you love his monsters as much as I do, check back! There’s going to be more! The two designs you see above are currently available online in our Etsy Store and at Gramberry. You can also find them locally in Eugene at Modern on 5th and Pearl.
If you’d like to check out more artwork by Josh Searl, you can at his Deviant Art site. Check it out!
Thanks so much for working with me, Josh! You’re awesome!

Check out this awesome set of edge-painted business cards we created last fall for Adair Cannada of Adair Cannada Design in Nashville, Tennessee! These letterpress business cards were printed with two ink colors, double-sided, on thick, 220 lb. 100% cotton Crane Lettra paper. Each card featured a lovely light blue, and a dark slate grey ink on both sides to make up Adair’s logo and contact information!
As an extra special finishing touch, we edge painted Adair’s cards with the same light blue color as we printed on the front and back. I just love how edge painting adds a little extra pizazz to any card design!
Thanks so much for working with us on these Adair! You rock!

I can’t believe it’s been nearly 3 weeks since my last post. Sheesh! It’s been busy, but in an awesome sort of way. We’ve gotten to work on so many cool projects in the last few weeks, I don’t even know where to start.
Last week we finished the awesome 3-color invitation you see above for Anna and Matthew. Anna and Matt are getting married at the end of June in Pennsylvania, and I couldn’t help but show off this invitation, because it’s just so pretty. I love it when couples incorporate bright, cheery colors into their designs (plus, I just really love orange).
Anna and Matt designed their invitation themselves based off of the design we printed for Weddingbee’s Mrs. Panther last year. You can see Stephanie’s invitations here. Anna changed up the fonts and colors for her design, but kept the layout fairly similar. As you can see below, the invitations were letterpress printed on heavyweight 100% cotton duplex paper in three ink colors: two shades of orange and a lovely light blue.
The letterpress impression on these turned out totally awesome!!
As a gorgeous finishing touch, Anna and Matt had us edge-paint their invitations in a similar light blue to the blue we used to print their names. This is a gorgeous finishing touch and really adds to the beauty and uniqueness of their invitations!
Again, that color combination just makes me smile. It really feels like summer might be around the corner when we get to print invitations like these!
Thanks so much for working with us Anna & Matt! If you ever need anything else, please don’t hesitate to let me know!

Earlier this week we showed off a really beautiful set of pink and grey wedding invitations that we printed for New York City couple Jihee and Isaac. In that post, I talked a lot about how Jihee designed her own invitations and how it was so much fun to work with her on printing them. Well, her invitations were actually not the first set of Jihee’s designs that we’ve printed. A few months prior to working with Jihee on her own invitations, we were hired by Jihee’s sister, Shelley, to print hers. Jihee designed this lovely suite as a wedding gift to her sister, and we were very excited to work with both of them on printing them!
Shelley and Laurence’s suite included a letterpress printed invitation and reply card, and a folded thank you card.
Below is the invitation all by itself! I love the different weights of fonts that Jihee used to accentuate Shelley and Laurence’s names, and I absolutely love her tree motif that she carried through all of the pieces in this suite. All of Shelley’s pieces were printed in navy blue ink on 140# Holyoke Natural Paper.
Shelley and Laurence’s reply card was a 4bar size designed to match the invite. Again, I love the use of the modern san-serif font in different weights and how the tree motif was included in the design of all of the stationery pieces.
Below is the 4bar size, folded thank you card that we printed to match. The thank you cards simply had the tree motif in the bottom right hand corner. They were blank on the inside so that Laurence and Shelley could write a personal message to each friend or family member.
Prior to printing their main invitations, we also got to print Laurence and Shelley’s Save-the-Dates. Their Save-the-Dates were an A6 size, printed in the same navy ink on Holyoke Natural paper. They featured Jihee’s tree motif at the top and all of the Save-the-Date information centered below it.
Aren’t all of the pieces in this suite just lovely?!? It was so wonderful to work with Laurence and Shelley on these, and to get to work with Jihee’s beautiful design work twice in the same year! Thanks so much again Jihee, Shelley & Laurence! All the best!
The gorgeous couple you see above almost needs no introduction. If you are a reader of WeddingBee, you’ve probably already met the bride, Stephanie. She’s Mrs. Panther! I had the pleasure of working with her and her now-husband, Brad, last year on some really awesome floral wedding invitations and I’m excited to finally be showing them off! Check ’em out:
Stephanie created her own invitation design and hired us to letterpress print it! The letterpress parts of the suite were an A7 invitation printed in two ink colors with a corresponding A7 envelope and smaller, 4bar RSVP envelope.
The A7 invite features an awesome, violet, floral design on both the back and front. The typography was a fun mix of modern san-serifs and scripts printed in a light, but bright blue and violet within a modern violet frame.
I love how bold and non-traditional Stephanie and Brad’s colors were, and I also love how she was able to incorporate classic, traditional elements, like flowers and scripts, into the design, as well as bold colors and modern typefaces. It’s not something you see done very often and when it’s done this well, it looks just awesome!!
Something else that was totally cool about these invites was the bright teal edge-painting on the invitations. All of Steph and Brad’s invites were edge painted with a shimmery teal-green paint that really added some extra pizazz to each one! Check out that awesome pop-of-color more closely in the images below!
Twin Ravens Press also printed some lovely envelopes for Stephanie & Brad’s suite. Both the invitation and rsvp envelopes were a dark, shimmery blue paper printed with gold ink. The calligraphy for the fronts of all the invitation envelopes as well as the letterpress return address on the back, was created by Michele Clark of Calligraphy by Michele. Michele’s awesome! We’ve worked on several different projects together over the years and her work is always beautiful!
If you’d like to see the other pieces from Stephanie’s suite, how the whole thing came together, more gorgeous calligraphy from Michele, and read what the bride herself had to say about these, and working with us, you can totally read her posts about them here and here on WeddingBee.
I loved working with Stephanie and it’s been really fun to check in from time to time on her blog to see what other fun wedding goodness she incorporated into her big day! Thanks so much again Stephanie! If you ever need anything, just let me know!
