Custom Business Cards | Calligraphy Katrina & Maison du Papier

Since I started Twin Ravens Press in 2007, I’ve had the pleasure of working with several awesome calligraphers from around the country!  One of my favorites, however, is Katrina Centeno of Calligraphy Katrina & Maison du Papier.  Katrina’s work is absolutely beautiful and I’m more than happy to recommend her to any of our couples who are looking for wedding calligraphy.  I was also super-excited this past fall when she asked me to letterpress print her business cards.

The cards you see above are a standard business card size and were printed on 100% cotton rag Holyoke paper in Antique White.  We used a stunning burgundy ink, which I think looks fabulous with Katrina’s calligraphy.  Both her logo and name were done in calligraphy and we used a classic roman font for her contact information.  If you’re in need of an awesome calligrapher, contact Katrina!

Stylish & Classic Calligraphy Monogram Cards

Check out these lovely letterpress printed calligraphy monogram cards that we printed last week!  These cards are a 4bar size folded note card with the couple’s monogram in calligraphy on the front.  They were printed on Crane Lettra Bright White paper in black ink, and are blank on the inside.  Each of these cards also came with a matching 4bar Crane Lettra envelope with the couples return address printed in calligraphy on the back flap.  Both the calligraphy return address and the monogram on the front of the cards was created by the lovely and talented Katrina Centeno of Calligraphy Katrina & Maison du Papier in Los Angeles, California.

Calligraphy monogram notecards have been used for centuries for a variety of different occasions, and they are stylish, classic, and timeless all at the same time.  Notes like this would be great as thank you cards for a wedding or other special event, and they are also wonderful to use as stylish personal stationery for your ordinary correspondence.

I love the contrast of the deep, black letterpress printed calligraphy on the bright white paper.  It’s so elegant and timeless!  The small, calligraphy return address that we printed on the flaps of each envelope is so beautiful too!  You can see it in much better detail in the photo below.

Thanks so much Katrina for working with us on these for your client!  I just love letterpress printing your calligraphy and can’t wait to work with you again!  Talk to you soon!

Weddings | Lauren & Chris

Earlier this month we finished a lovely, modern-chic set of wedding invitations for a couple in Southern California, Lauren & Chris.  Lauren and Chris are getting married in Palm Springs at the end of March and wanted something that was both classy and traditional, and modern and chic at the same time.  For their suite, we created a large, 6.75″ square wedding invitation with matching envelope, an A6 size reply card with matching envelope and a 5.5″ square rehearsal dinner invitation.  The three main pieces were printed on Holyoke 100% cotton rag paper in Bone White and they were paired with 100% cotton pearl white envelopes from Crane & Co.  Twin Ravens Press created the design and text layout and Lauren and Chris hired the very talented Katrina Centeno of Calligraphy Katrina in Pasadena, California to do the calligraphy for both the letterpress printed designs and for her envelope addressing.

Here is Lauren and Chris’ wedding invite all by itself!  For the design of this invitation, we created a fun and modern blind embossed tile border pattern that is about 1″ wide all around the outside of the invite.  This invitation is an oversized square shape and measures about 6.75″ square.  We then letterpress printed the text of their wedding invitation in a mix of all-caps and classic serif fonts in black ink and had their names letterpress printed in black calligraphy as the main focal point of the piece.  I just love the beautiful calligraphy that Katrina created for this design, and think it worked so beautifully with the other design elements and typefaces of the suite.

Check out the gorgeous texture that the letterpress printing of the calligraphy, blind embossed border and text of the invitation created in the Holyoke paper!  The results were just stunning!

Above you can see the back flap of Lauren & Chris’ invitation envelope.  These envelopes were a 7″ square, marquis, square flap envelope from Crane & Co. and feature the couple’s letterpress printed return address in black ink centered on the back flap.  The calligraphy for this address was also created by Katrina of Calligraphy Katrina.
Lauren and Chris’ reply card was designed to match their invitation.  They had quite a few different events for their wedding weekend that their guests needed to respond to, so we chose to do a fairly large, rectangular A6 size card for this piece.  The design of the card features more beautiful calligraphy, the blind embossed border pattern adorning the left side of the card only, and some very cute animal and vegetable graphics for entrée choices.  This card was paired with an A6 size, square flap envelope, also from Crane that featured letterpress printed, calligraphy return addresses on the front.
I love Lauren’s fun and different responses for each event on this card.  It’s much more unique than just a simple “Accepts” and “Regrets”!
Last, but not least, we created a coordinating rehearsal dinner invitation for Lauren and Chris to go with each of their wedding invitations.  This card is also a square shape, but is quite a bit smaller than the wedding invitation, at 5.5″ square.  It also features the same blind embossed border all the way around and was printed with black ink.  Katrina wrote out the words “Let’s Celebrate!” in calligraphy, and we used that for the main decorative text of this piece.  We also decorated this card with a small, vintage palm tree image, which I love.
Lauren and Chris were so much fun to work with and I truly loved mixing Lauren’s patterned border idea with fancy, elaborate calligraphy.  Thanks so much again for working with us Lauren and Chris!  If you ever need anything else, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
