Boy, howdy! Was I excited to get this little business card job! We’ve been working with Lynda Asprinio and her wedding stationery clients at Write Away For You Calligraphy for years, so I was beyond thrilled when Lynda herself hired us to letterpress print her new business cards! Lynda’s cards feature her calligraphy and some beautiful calligraphic vine border designs. They were printed in two ink colors: gold and black, on a very unique paper. The paper is Magnani Annigoni, which comes from a small mill in Italy and is a distinctive natural color with flecks of wool fiber it it! I love it!
Lynda is based in Pennsylvania and specializes in hand calligraphy for weddings and other special events. You can find more information about her styles and pricing and see more examples of her work on her website! If you’re planning a wedding or other special event, I would highly recommend Lynda! Go check her out!

Check out this lovely and classic wedding invitation suite we recently completed for Australian couple, Anna & James! Anna and James are getting married outside on the grounds of their church in Gleniffer, New South Wales, in April of 2014. Anna had a fantastically clear vision of what she wanted for her wedding invitations, and hired us to turn that vision into a reality! Her and James’ suite features an A7 size invitation, a custom made tag that has RSVP information printed on one side and information about gift-giving on the other, and coordinating envelopes. The styling is timeless and classic. All pieces were printed in black ink and feature a gorgeous, contemporary calligraphy font, contrasted with a classic roman typeface for the majority of the wording. There are also some lovely, hand-drawn details decorating both the tags and invitations.
I just love the tree motif at the top of this invitation! It’s so lovely and whimsical when paired with the calligraphy font that we used for Anna and James’ names.
Below, you can see a closer view of the tags. These were custom laser cut out of the same cotton rag paper that we used for the invitations and then printed double-sided with the gift and RSVP information. Each tag also has a hole drilled in it so that Anna could tie them on to the invitation with either twine or a ribbon.
I loved working with Anna and James on this suite, and I think the results are just beautiful! If you’re looking to create a similar style for your wedding, please don’t hesitate to contact us! We would love to work with you!

Check out the beautiful calligraphy that we letterpress printed for Louisiana couple, Amanda & Rhett’s, classic wedding invitations for their March 2013 wedding at the White Oak Plantation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana! The gorgeous calligraphy for these invites was done by Kathryn Podorsky of Della Carta Studio, and then letterpress printed by us, in black ink on 7″ square, luxurious Arturo Fine Stationery. These were paired with matching inner and outer envelopes. The outer envelopes featured Amanda’s parent’s return address in calligraphy on the back flap. Gorgeous!!
The invitations I’m posting today are one of my favorite classic, yet modern, black & white suites from last year! They’re big, beautiful, and classy with just a touch of whimsy! Alison and Matthew hired me last year to design and print this suite, based on some samples they had seen of some of my previous invitations, but also wanted to incorporate some custom calligraphy! Their suite included a large 7″-square invite and corresponding envelope, a 4bar size reply card and matching envelope, and a small 3.5″x2.5″ reception card.
Alison & Matthew’s gorgeous invite was printed in two ink colors: black and silver. We used the silver for their names only and the black for all of the other text. The invites were printed on double-thick Crane Lettra Duplex paper. Alison hired the awesome Kelle Anne McCarter of designsgirl to create her custom calligraphy. Isn’t it beautiful?!? Alison had Kelle create a few key phrases in calligraphy for the other pieces for us to incorporate into their design. You can see the reply card and matching envelope in the photo below. I love how the phrases “kindly reply”, “m______________”, and “mr. and mrs steven jones” are in calligraphy! I love the contrast between them and the other phrases in the serif font – it’s such a nice contrast.
In the top left photo above you can see that we used the same return address for the back flap of the main invitation envelope. The top right photo is a close up of the reception card. This insert measured 3.5″x2.5″ (just slightly larger than a regular business card) and featured Kelle Anne’s calligraphy for “dinner and dancing” and the rest of the info in the serif font. Lastly, to make the invites even more special, we edge painted them in a shimmery silver edge paint to match Alison & Matthew’s names. I just love how these invitations turned out!
Alison and Matthew, thanks so much again for working with us last year! If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to let me know!

Above is another one of my absolute favorite sets of wedding invitations from last year. The couple we created them for was so sweet and wonderful to work with, and the design and colors are so much fun! If you’re a reader of WeddingBee, you may have already seen these before. The bride we created them for is Mrs. Candy Apple. Galen and Jeff’s invitation suite featured an A7 size invitation with corresponding envelope, an A2 size reply card with corresponding envelope, and a 4″ square reception card that was printed as a coaster!
Check out their beautiful invitation below! Galen and Jeff hired Blue Clara on Etsy to create their silhouettes and we incorporated them into this timeless, yet modern design. The invitation is an A7 size and was printed on 100% cotton Crane Lettra Pearl White paper in dark grey ink. Along with their silhouettes, the design also featured a lovely, decorative border and two different fonts: a fun, modern script for their names, and a classic, all-caps, roman face for the body text. Their invitation was paired with a moss green envelope from Waste Not Paper Company and was letterpress printed with their return address in grey on the back flap. I love how Galen had us use a small heart in the address where the ampersand normally would be. So cute!!!
The letterpress printing on this piece was just lovely!
Below, you can see the reply card that we designed to match. The reply card was also printed in dark grey ink and featured the same border design and fonts from the invitation. I love the cute, creative response wording that Galen and Jeff used, and the adorable animal silhouettes are always a fun alternative to simply writing out meal options.
Galen & Jeff also included a separate reception “card” with their invites. They were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Seattle, but held their reception at a separate venue: the Seattle Tennis Club. They wanted to emphasize the fun aspect of their reception, so for this piece, rather than printing it as a normal card, we printed it on a coaster! The coasters were printed in two ink colors: the same dark grey from the other pieces in the suite, and a nice olive-y green to match the envelopes. I think this piece was super-fun!
Galen also added some additional embellishments to this suite that really tied everything together including a Moo Card with one of their engagement photos, bakers twine and custom calligraphy. The calligraphy was done by Michele Clark of Calligraphy by Michele in Staten Island, New York. Her work is always beautiful! If you’d like to see these invitations fully assembled, and read about them on Galen’s WeddingBee Blog, you can here and here. Check them out! You can also read more about other aspects of her wedding and see recap photos by clicking the link to her full WeddingBee blog above.
Thanks so much again for working with us Galen! I love how everything turned out and working with you was a blast! If you ever need anything else, just let me know.

It’s been a little chilly out here in Oregon, so I thought, for a change of weather-pace, I’d show off this awesome set of pocket-folder invitations that we created for Florida couple, Priscilla and David, last year. Priscilla and David were married last May in sunny Key West and their invitations definitely have a warm, inviting, beach-y feel. If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you may remember their awesome palm tree save-the-dates from last year. If not, go check those out too!
Priscilla and David’s colors were orange, green and chocolate brown and we were able to incorporate all three into their stationery design to create a very awesome suite! Above you can see all of the pieces in the suite together, which included their pocket folder invitation and envelope, a reply card and envelope, directions, accommodations, and reception cards, a custom letterpress map and key, and a schedule of events card. We also made them a very cool custom belly band!
If you were to have received one of Priscilla and David’s invitations, below is what you would have seen when you first opened the envelope. Priscilla and David’s envelopes were a white monarch style envelope from Green Paper Company that was custom lined with an olive green lokta paper from Nepal. The pocket folder which enclosed all of the other pieces was a chocolate brown folder and we created an awesome custom belly band to seal it shut! The belly band featured a large band of the same olive green lokta that we used for their envelope liners, with three strands of natural raffia twine, and a layered, square medallion. The medallion was made out of a square of Kagome Bamboo paper, olive green lokta, and a letterpress piece with their names and wedding date in chocolate brown ink with a little green palm tree in the background. These were super time-intensive to make, but the look was just amazing!
Check out the awesome textures of their belly band! The letterpress printing was amazing and the Kagome Bamboo, lokta, and raffia just add so much extra depth and texture!
Below is what you would see when you opened up the pocket folder! Priscilla and David’s wedding invitation was printed in three ink colors: green, orange, and chocolate brown, and was mounted into the folder with a lokta and kagome bamboo double-matt. The pocket on the right contained five different inserts.
The texture of everything in this suite was totally awesome! Priscilla chose our house Holyoke 100% cotton rag paper in Bone White for her invitation and all of her inserts. It’s such a lovely paper and takes the impression of the letterpress printing so well!
Below left and bottom right are close-ups of their invitation. I love their bright, tropical color scheme! The image in the top right below shows their green return address that we letterpress printed on each envelope. All of the custom calligraphy that you see throughout this suite was done by the wonderful and talented Michele Clark of Calligraphy by Michele.
Each of Priscilla and David’s inserts were designed to match the invite. Below you can see their 4bar size reply card, which was letterpress printed in two ink colors: olive green and orange. I love all of the little tropical icons we used at the top of the insert cards and next to the events on the reply! Below, top right, is the envelope we paired with Priscilla’s reply card. This envelope was printed with chocolate brown ink and featured their same palm tree graphic from the invitation on the left hand side. Below, bottom right, is an image of their reception card by itself. This card was smaller than the RSVP and was printed in a single color: olive green.
Above, priscilla also included an olive green directions card that featured a wonderful little starfish motif! Below left, is a separate insert for accommodations and transportation information. Below right, is the back side of Priscilla and David’s custom map. The back was a key that was created by the very talented Crystal Kluge. Scroll down to see the actual map itself!
Each invitation included the above A6 size map printed in olive green ink. The map design was created by Crystal Kluge and featured adorable illustrations for all of the important Key West landmarks for Priscilla and David’s wedding. Check out the detail below! It’s awesome!
Above, bottom left: We letterpress printed a larger version of this map in black ink that you can see above that Crystal hand-watercolored for Priscilla and David. It’s such a lovely keepsake and piece of artwork that they could frame and hang up in their home after the wedding was over!
Lastly, each invitation included a schedule of events card that was printed in two ink colors: olive green and orange. This card had the places and times of each event, as well as a website URL for guests to reference for additional information.
I loved working on this suite and I imagine that Priscilla and David’s Key West wedding was warm, tropical and absolutely beautiful! Thanks so much for working on these with us last year Priscilla! All the best to you and David!

Since I started Twin Ravens Press in 2007, I’ve had the pleasure of working with several awesome calligraphers from around the country! One of my favorites, however, is Katrina Centeno of Calligraphy Katrina & Maison du Papier. Katrina’s work is absolutely beautiful and I’m more than happy to recommend her to any of our couples who are looking for wedding calligraphy. I was also super-excited this past fall when she asked me to letterpress print her business cards.
The cards you see above are a standard business card size and were printed on 100% cotton rag Holyoke paper in Antique White. We used a stunning burgundy ink, which I think looks fabulous with Katrina’s calligraphy. Both her logo and name were done in calligraphy and we used a classic roman font for her contact information. If you’re in need of an awesome calligrapher, contact Katrina!

You may remember that last summer I worked on a really beautiful wedding invitation that was made up of letterpress calligraphy and blind embossed elements, for a couple getting married in Boracay, Philippines in January 2011. That couple was Chatie and Hanzy, and you can see the post I did about their wedding stationery here. Or, if you don’t want to click on the link, below is a reminder photo of how their wedding invitation turned out. This invite had a blind embossed monogram at the top, and blind embossed tropical motifs along the bottom and right side. The text of the invitation was printed in a light turquoise blue and the calligraphy for it was created by Fran Heider of Little Flower Calligraphy. Isn’t it pretty?!?
Well, I was super-excited to hear from Chatie the other day, almost six months after we completed their invitations. She e-mailed me to say thank you again for creating her and her now-husband’s wedding invitations, and to say that the wedding went absolutely beautifully. She even sent pictures. : ) Check them out below!
Such a gorgeous and wonderfully nice couple, and I love their super-tropical pictures! Thanks so much for staying in touch with us Chatie! If you ever need anything else, please don’t hesitate to ask. All the best!
