Custom Business Cards | Michael Werner

Michael1

It’s really cool to have really cool friends.  I think that goes without saying, but it’s nice to point it out every now and again.

I met Michael Werner and his wife, Katie, four years ago when both were teaching Journalism at the University of Oregon, and they were looking for someone to create their wedding invitations.  The wedding invitations we did for them are still one of my favorite suites we’ve done, ever, and after doing the job, the three of us became great friends.  Michael and Katie moved north to Seattle not too long after that, but we’ve kept in touch, and I was super-excited when Michael contacted me about creating a set of business cards for him.

Michael’s snazzy cards are black & red and feature some awesome blind embossing of a photograph he took outside of Seattle on one side.  They were printed on super-thick Crane Lettra Bright White paper and feature really bright red edge painting.  They really stand out from the crowd!

Cool Business Cards for COOL Creative, Inc.

COOL1

A little while ago we were hired to print a set of really cool (no pun intended) business cards for COOL Creative, Inc. in Miami, Florida.  COOL Creative is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary creative studio with world-class experience in the tourism, entertainment, retail, B2B, non-profit organizations, and hospitality markets.  They specialize in developing thoughtful creative that leverages a diverse mix of media platforms so that messages will resonate better with consumers.  Check out their website or blog!

COOL Creative’s super-cool business cards were letterpress printed on a custom duplexed black and white stock.  The white side featured their contact information and logo, along with a functional QR code in black ink.  The reverse, black side featured a repeating pattern of their logo printed in a varnish.

COOL2

The black and white duplex paper is fancy in and of itself, but in order to make these cards even fancier, we also edge-painted them with a bright, neon green edge paint.  Super-COOL!

Thanks so much, Johanne and Terrance, for working with us on this project!!

Weddings | Alexandra & Simon

I love a classic black & white letterpress invitation so much!  They’re timeless, beautiful, and can work with just about any type of celebration!  Earlier this year we created the invite you see in the photos above and below for Australian couple, Alexandra and Simon.  They wanted something timeless with a little bit of modern flair.  Their invitation is printed in black ink on a gorgeous 100% cotton rag paper.  It features a classic all-caps, serif font for the body text, and a more decorative script font for their names.  The invites also featured rounded corners and copper edge painting.  We paired this invite with a matching envelope, printed with the couple’s return address in the same style, and then lined each one with a more modern and playful blue envelope liner!  The liner featured a fun pattern of different blue and copper dots, which coordinated wonderfully with the edge painting on the invitations!  So awesome!!

Weddings | Jeremy & Kim

Hi Everybody!  These invitations that we printed last fall for Oklahoma couple, Kim & Jeremy, combine two of my very favorite things: classic elements and contemporary styling, with a fun and funky combination of paper and inks!  When Jeremy first approached me about printing he and Kim’s invitations, they knew they wanted something a little out of the ordinary, and I think these black invitations with metallic gold ink and edge painting, really fit the bill. Their suite included an A7 size invitation printed on duplex-weight black paper with gold ink, a 4bar size reply card printed on shimmery gold, handmade Porridge Paper with black ink, and coordinating envelopes for both!

I really love Jeremy and Kim’s invitation design, which you can see in better detail above!  Not only is the combination of gold ink on black paper really unique for a wedding, but I love how they were able to incorporate more classic looking flourishes and patterns into a really unique layout for their invite.  I love the large, rustic-looking, scripty names in the center, and the slightly western, serif typeface used for the body text!  They are romantic, rustic, western, classic, and just a tiny bit steampunk all at the same time!  Love it!!

As you can see in the top right photo below, we also edge painted Kim and Jeremy’s invitations with shimmery gold edge paint for an added bit of shiny!  Both the reply card envelope and invitation envelope were designed to match.  Both envelopes were black, printed with gold ink, and featured the bride’s mom’s address inside of a fun rustic border!

For their reply card, Jeremy and Kim wanted to continue using unique colored paper, but they also wanted their guests to be able to write on these easily, so, for these, we just flip-flopped the colors and used a handmade, slightly shimmery, gold cotton paper from Porridge Papers and printed the design in black ink.

Aren’t these invitations just so cool!?!  I just love how unique and interesting they are!  Jeremy and Kim were fabulous to work with this past fall and I imagine that their October wedding was just lovely!

Thanks so much again for working with us Jeremy and Kim!  Many congratulations!

Weddings | Alison & Matthew

The invitations I’m posting today are one of my favorite classic, yet modern, black & white suites from last year!  They’re big, beautiful, and classy with just a touch of whimsy!  Alison and Matthew hired me last year to design and print this suite, based on some samples they had seen of some of my previous invitations, but also wanted to incorporate some custom calligraphy!  Their suite included a large 7″-square invite and corresponding envelope, a 4bar size reply card and matching envelope, and a small 3.5″x2.5″ reception card.

Alison & Matthew’s gorgeous invite was printed in two ink colors: black and silver.  We used the silver for their names only and the black for all of the other text.  The invites were printed on double-thick Crane Lettra Duplex paper.  Alison hired the awesome Kelle Anne McCarter of designsgirl to create her custom calligraphy.  Isn’t it beautiful?!?  Alison had Kelle create a few key phrases in calligraphy for the other pieces for us to incorporate into their design.  You can see the reply card and matching envelope in the photo below.  I love how the phrases “kindly reply”, “m______________”, and “mr. and mrs steven jones” are in calligraphy!  I love the contrast between them and the other phrases in the serif font – it’s such a nice contrast.

In the top left photo above you can see that we used the same return address for the back flap of the main invitation envelope.  The top right photo is a close up of the reception card.  This insert measured 3.5″x2.5″ (just slightly larger than a regular business card) and featured Kelle Anne’s calligraphy for “dinner and dancing” and the rest of the info in the serif font.  Lastly, to make the invites even more special, we edge painted them in a shimmery silver edge paint to match Alison & Matthew’s names.  I just love how these invitations turned out!

Alison and Matthew, thanks so much again for working with us last year!  If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to let me know!

Weddings | Bianca & Paul

The day after Christmas, a lovely couple that we had the pleasure of working with from Paris, France, were married in the Philippines.  Talk about an awesome destination wedding!  Bianca and I designed her invitations via email and Skype, and the results were truly awesome!  She was looking for a classy and sophisticated design that spoke to both their ceremony, and maturity as a couple.  We chose to use a beautiful damask pattern and classic fonts printed in silver ink to achieve this look!  Each invitation was letterpress printed as an A7 size in one ink color (silver) on super-thick, 220# Crane Lettra Duplex paper.  After they were printed, we then laser-cut each invitation out to give it the cool, scalloped edges that you can see in the photos.  To make these invites even more unique and special, we also edge painted all of them with shimmery copper edge paint.  A set of A7 envelopes were also printed with Bianca & Paul’s return address on the flap to compliment the invitation!  I just love how this classy set of invites turned out, and it was such a joy working with Bianca!  Check out more photos of the finished invites below!  Thanks so much again for working with us Bianca!  I’m sure your wedding a few weeks ago was just beautiful!  If you ever need anything else, please don’t hesitate to ask!  Thanks again!

Custom Business Cards | Color & Dust

Earlier this year, we created a gorgeous, timeless, set of custom letterpress business cards for Kelsey Strawn of Color & Dust in Tyler, Texas.  Kelsey hired us to rebrand her photography business and I just love the logo and business card design we came up with!  Above you can see the finished letterpress business cards we made.  Kelsey’s cards feature rounded corners and were printed in silver ink on ultra-thick Crane Lettra 100% cotton duplex 220 lb. paper.  We used a combination of an ultra-modern san-serif font for the logo and a fun handwritten script for the tagline and URL.

As an extra special finishing touch, we also edge painted Kelsey’s cards in silver!  I just love how modern and timeless these are!  Perfect for a photography business!

This is actually the second set of business cards Color & Dust has had us print.  The original set was done in the same design and was printed on a custom, handmade purple paper from Porridge Papers in gold ink.  These cards were super-awesome too, but unfortunately, I fogot to take photos of them.  : (  At any rate, I just love working with Kelsey, and her photography is amazing!  If you’re in or near Tyler, Texas, you should definitely look her up!

Kelsey was kind enough to share a few of her favorite images with us!  All photos below courtesy of Color & Dust.

Aren’t her photos just lovely!?!  I love her heavy use of natural lighting and bright colors!  If I had kiddos, I would totally hire Kelsey to do family portraits or pictures of my kids.  Seriously, if you’re in Texas, go check out Color & Dust!

Custom Business Cards | Adair Cannada Design

Check out this awesome set of edge-painted business cards we created last fall for Adair Cannada of Adair Cannada Design in Nashville, Tennessee!  These letterpress business cards were printed with two ink colors, double-sided, on thick, 220 lb. 100% cotton Crane Lettra paper.  Each card featured a lovely light blue, and a dark slate grey ink on both sides to make up Adair’s logo and contact information!

As an extra special finishing touch, we edge painted Adair’s cards with the same light blue color as we printed on the front and back.  I just love how edge painting adds a little extra pizazz to any card design!

Thanks so much for working with us on these Adair!  You rock!

Custom Business Cards | Simply Rose Photography

I just love a gorgeous letterpress printed business card!  They just stand out from the crowd in a way that no other type of business card can.

I was very excited when we got to design and print the set of business cards you see above for Rose Dykstra of Simply Rose Photography in Vancouver, Canada last month.  Rose’s cards feature double-sided letterpress printing in two colors (an organic, grassy green and light pink) on 100% cotton, duplex Crane Lettra Pearl White Paper.  The front side features Rose’s logo in two colors and the back side features her name and contact information in green.

As an extra-special finishing touch we edge painted these cards in light pink to match the pink of her logo!

Aren’t these cards just gorgeous?!?  I love how the letterpress impression turned out on the super thick paper, and I think that the edge painting really helped to finish the design off!  Rose took some additional photos of these cards and posted them on her blog here.  If you’d like to check out some of Rose’s gorgeous photography, you can on her website.

Thanks so much for working with us on these Rose!  I love how they turned out and I’m so glad you did too!  If you ever need anything else, just let me know!  Thanks again!

Weddings | Anna & Matthew

I can’t believe it’s been nearly 3 weeks since my last post.  Sheesh!  It’s been busy, but in an awesome sort of way.  We’ve gotten to work on so many cool projects in the last few weeks, I don’t even know where to start.

Last week we finished the awesome 3-color invitation you see above for Anna and Matthew.  Anna and Matt are getting married at the end of June in Pennsylvania, and I couldn’t help but show off this invitation, because it’s just so pretty.  I love it when couples incorporate bright, cheery colors into their designs (plus, I just really love orange).

Anna and Matt designed their invitation themselves based off of the design we printed for Weddingbee’s Mrs. Panther last year.  You can see Stephanie’s invitations here.  Anna changed up the fonts and colors for her design, but kept the layout fairly similar.  As you can see below, the invitations were letterpress printed on heavyweight 100% cotton duplex paper in three ink colors: two shades of orange and a lovely light blue.

The letterpress impression on these turned out totally awesome!!

As a gorgeous finishing touch, Anna and Matt had us edge-paint their invitations in a similar light blue to the blue we used to print their names.  This is a gorgeous finishing touch and really adds to the beauty and uniqueness of their invitations!

Again, that color combination just makes me smile.  It really feels like summer might be around the corner when we get to print invitations like these!

Thanks so much for working with us Anna & Matt!  If you ever need anything else, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
