Weddings | Alicia & Tim

Alicia1In the spirit of Throwback-Thursday, I’d like to show you one of my favorite wedding invitation suites from a couple of years ago that I just hadn’t gotten around to putting up on the blog, until now!  This suite was designed by New York City designer, Jihee Wu, for Melbourne, Australia couple, Alicia and Tim!  I love how modern and timeless this suite is and how it utilizes many of the lovely things that letterpress printing has to offer, in such an elegant and classic way!
Alicia3Alicia4Alicia & Tim’s invitation suite featured a 5.5″ square invitation, letterpress printed in a charcoal grey ink on 100% cotton Crane Lettra Pearl White Paper.  The suite also featured matching grey envelopes that were letterpress printed with black ink.  All of Alicia and Tim’s pieces incorporated a blind embossed monogram, which you can see at the top of the invite in the above photos.

Other pieces included a single color (gray) reply postcard and a smaller reception card with their wedding website info at the bottom.

We also printed a gorgeous set of simple, modern thank you cards, and matching menus and ceremony programs for the day of the wedding.  Alicia & Tim’s thank you cards and thank you card envelopes are pictured below!

Thanks so much again for working with us, Alicia & Tim!  Cheers!

Custom Business Cards | The Proper Poppy

Happy New Year everyone!  I wanted to start the new year off by showing off some lovely business cards that we printed a few weeks ago for a client in California who is starting up her own floral design business, The Proper Poppy.  Click on the link and check out the photos in Jennifer’s portfolio – they are stunning!

Jennifer’s cards are double-sided and were printed in a single ink color: a nice medium grey, on ultra-thick, Crane Lettra Pearl White 100% cotton duplex paper.  One side of the cards features The Proper Poppy’s logo and the other features some fun, thick, vertical, blind embossed stripes surrounding Jennifer’s name and contact information.  To give these cards a more “finished” look we die-cut them with rounded corners.

I just love how sweet and simple Jennifer’s logo is!  It looks so professional on that all-white background!  These cards were designed for Jennifer by graphic designer, Liz Grant.  We’ve worked with Liz on a few different projects in the past including wedding invitations for local couple, Anna and Zane, and on Jennifer’s holiday cards early last month.  Liz is a terrific designer and we just love printing her work!

I just love the back side of this card!  The blind embossed stripes do a lovely job of framing the typography for Jennifer’s name and contact information and really create a lovely texture!  We’re going to be working with Jennifer and Liz on more stationery items for The Proper Poppy in the coming year, so if you love these cards, keep your eye out for the other pieces on this blog in the next few months!  Thanks so much Jennifer and Liz!  Talk to you both soon!

Weddings | Alyssa & Matthew

I’m so sorry for my extended blogging absence, folks!  We’ve been busy around here finishing up fall orders and getting holiday cards ready for the upcoming holiday season!  I want to get back in to the blogging swing of things though by showing you this lovely set of modern, orange and grey wedding invitations that we created for Virginia couple, Alyssa and Matthew, who are getting married tomorrow!  Alyssa and Matthew’s invitation suite included a 4bar ceremony invitation, a larger #10 size reception invitation, a 4bar response card with corresponding orange envelope and a #10 grey outer invitation envelope to hold everything in.  Alyssa and Matthew are getting married at Alyssa’s parent’s home and are having a small, private ceremony followed by a larger reception with drinks, dessert and dancing.  All of their pieces were printed on Crane Lettra 100% cotton bright white paper in two ink colors: a medium, warm grey and a bright, festive orange.  Alyssa wanted a modern design and not a lot of graphical elements, but I did create a pattern of modern lines with varying sized circles for them that were used throughout the suite.

Below is an image of Alyssa & Matthew’s ceremony invitation.  As I mentioned above, they are having a small, intimate ceremony for just close friends and family, so they had me print their ceremony invitations much smaller than the main reception invitation.  This card is a 4bar size.  I love the ultra-modern treatment of their names!  Alyssa and Matthew’s names are purposefully joined together, without spacing, and we used a modern, all-lower-case, san-serif font for Alyssa’s name, and a slightly bolder, serif face for Matthew’s.  The names really stand out on this card in the lovely bright orange ink that Alyssa picked!

After the ceremony, Alyssa and Matthew planned for a larger, evening reception for more guests, with drinks, dessert and dancing.  We created a larger, #10 size invite for this part of the evening in the same style, which you can see below.

Their reply card was also a 4bar size, printed entirely in grey ink!  I love how Alyssa included lines for guests to suggest requests for the dj and bartender.  I’m sure it’s going to be a fabulous party!  You can also see in the photos above a close-up of their invitation envelopes (lower left) that had their return addresses printed on the flap in grey ink, as well as their reply card envelopes (lower right) that were orange with grey ink on the front.  I just love how this suite came together and think that the design, combined with Alyssa and Matthew’s color choices, was perfect for a modern, fall wedding.  Congratulations Alyssa and Matthew!  Thanks again!
