Weddings | Ryan and Makena

IMG_7360

Check out these awesome invitations we letterpress printed earlier this spring for Eugene, Oregon couple, Ryan & Makena!  The style of these invitations is very different than a lot of the invitations we print, which made them super-fun to do!  Ryan and Makena had their friend, and British Illustrator, Alice Bowsher, draw their custom invitation artwork and then they hired us to print it!  I really love Alice’s thick, sketchy, hand-drawn style and the way she’s able to fit so much visual information and interest into each one of her compositions!  If you check out her website, or her Instagram (seriously, do it: she’s amazing), you’ll see that she also incorporates adorable robots, birds, and other fuzzy critters, as well as people, into much of her work, which really pulls at our heartstrings.

The artwork was sized to fit a standard 5″x7″ invitation and was printed in black ink on Holyoke 100% cotton Natural White paper.  I love that the paper Ryan & Makena picked isn’t a stark white.  The warmth of the paper I feel really adds to the warmth and cheeriness of the illustration work.

For the back of the invitation, we figured we needed to print a little more information and details for the ceremony.  In laying this out, I wanted to keep the feel of the typography consistent with the front of their invitation, so I set all of the type in thicker, black, fonts that look at least somewhat handwritten, while still being very legible.

I really love how this invitation came together and I was really excited to get to work with a new artist’s work!  Thanks so much Alice, Ryan, and Makena for working with me!  If you ever need anything else, please don’t hesitate to let me know!

Weddings | Josie and Matt

IMG_7289Twin Ravens Press would like to send a big congratulations out to our clients, Josie & Matt who were married at a sweet farm ceremony in Brownsville, Oregon, last Saturday!  Josie and Matt were married outside of a historic Victorian farmhouse and garden at AtaVista Farm which was built in 1876.  Josie wanted their wedding invitations to be simple, beautiful, and incorporate their wedding colors, which she described as “Peaches ‘n Cream”.  They ended up choosing to modify our Yours Truly Wedding Suite to fit their stationery needs.

IMG_7287

Josie and Matt’s take on the Yours Truly suite featured an A7 size wedding invitation and 4bar size rsvp postcard that were printed in a single color, a nice deep coral/peach.  It also came with a coordinating invitation envelope in that same coral/peach color printed with their return address.  Josie chose a really warm “Natural White” 100% cotton paper from Holyoke for the invitations and reply cards.  We also rounded all the corners on the two cards to give them an even softer touch.

Josie&Matt1The top of Josie & Matt’s invitation featured the image of the Victorian farmhouse at AtaVista Farm, which you can also see on their website.  Aside from adding the little photo motif to the top, we kept the remainder of the fonts in the design consistent with our original Yours Truly suite.  I love the way Josie & Matt’s names looked in the modern, all-lowercase script font that we used!

To save a little on postage and paper, Josie & Matt chose to do a reply postcard in lieu of a card and envelopes for their rsvps.  This postcard was printed double-sided and had their standard RSVP information on one side and their return address on the back.  This card was also printed in the same peachy-coral ink color we used for their main invitation.

Aren’t they pretty?!?  Thanks so much Josie & Matt for working with us on your wedding invitations!  I’m sure the wedding itself was just beautiful!! Congratulations!

Save the Date | Hillary & Peter are Getting Married!

HillaryHenthorn1Check out these fun, festive, letterpress save-the-date cards we created for local, Eugene couple, Hillary & Peter for their upcoming wedding at Sweet Cheeks Winery in July!  When Hillary met with me at the beginning of this year to discuss her design options, she really fell in love with our new Confetti Thank You Cards, which you can see below, and wanted to do some sort of similar motif for her save-the-dates.

IMG_6869I loved the idea of incorporating the two-color confetti pattern into more stationery, so we changed up the colors just a little bit and came up with these:

HillaryHenthorn2Hillary and Peter’s save-the-dates are a double-sided postcard featuring black letterpress ink and gold foil stamping on the front side, and their return address and space for writing their recipients’ addresses in black ink on the reverse side.  Hillary chose a fun combination of fonts that to me, look vaguely reminiscent of the elvish writing from Lord of the Rings.  These save-the-dates were printed on 100% cotton paper.  Check out how shiny the gold foil is below!

HillaryHenthorn3I just love how these turned out and can’t wait to continue working with Hillary and Peter on their main invitations!

If you’re interested in working with us on fancy letterpress printing and/or foil stamping for your upcoming wedding (or anything else), get in touch!  We’d love to work with you!

Weddings | Catherine & Ross

Last year we had the privilege of working on a really beautiful set of custom wedding invitations with local graphic designer, Brianne Beigh, and Seattle, Washington couple, Catherine & Ross, for their late July wedding.  I love the combination of handwriting and modern san-serif fonts that Brianne used in this design, and I adore how she kept the colors and style of all the pieces coordinating from the save-the-dates (which were printed much earlier in the year) to the invitation suite!

Catherine&Ross4

Striking combinations of metallic gold, matte gold, and a deep slate grey on crisp white paper really made for a stunning, and formal combination of color!  I love how we were able to find a really fun gold on cream patterned envelope liner paper for each of the invitation envelopes that coordinated so well with the design and ink colors used on the wedding invitation!

Catherine&Ross5Catherine&Ross6

The reply card and envelope was also designed to match and featured one ink color (slate grey) on the same, crisp, white, 100% cotton paper.  The rsvp envelopes were unlined and had the couple’s address letterpress printed in matte white foil on a dark grey envelope.

The save-the-dates, which were designed and printed much earlier in the year, also matched the invitation suite!

I just love how everything in this suite turned out!

Catherine and Ross worked with Seattle photographer, Barbie Hull, for their wedding photography, and Barbie was kind enough to share the image below of the invitations which she took on their wedding day!

So beautiful!

Thank you so much again, Brianne, Catherine, and Ross, for working with me!  If you ever need anything else, please don’t hesitate to let me know!

Weddings | Corinne and Tyler

One of my very favorite custom wedding invitations from 2015 was a suite we did for a local couple with a very Pacific Northwest vibe!  Inspired by the beautiful landscapes and gorgeous outdoor textures of central Oregon, this wedding invitation suite combines many of our favorite materials, and features adorable woodsy touches!

Corinne1

Corinne & Tyler’s invitations feature rich letterpress ink colors in chocolate browns, tans, and evergreen. Their main invitation, reply card, and Oregon-shaped map and directions card were printed on handmade cotton paper from Porridge Papers in Lincoln, NE.  We laser-cut their oversized t-length invitation to feature a panorama of the Oregon Pacific Cascade mountain range. The mountains along the top include prominent Oregon landmarks: Mount Tumalo, Broken Top, South Sister, Middle Sister, North Sister, Mount Washington, 3 Finger Jack, and Mount Jefferson!

Corinne2Corinne7

I absolutely adore the fun mix of fonts and all of the cute animals that Corinne had me incorporate into their design!

The RSVP card was attached to the invitation, but came perforated so that guests could tear it off and mail it back.

Corinne3Corine6

The suite also included a small, double-sided, map & directions card that was cut into the shape of Oregon.  The front side had a map with prominent roads and freeways, the Cascade Mountain Range, other prominent natural landmarks, and important towns and cities that were related either to the couple or their wedding.  The backside of the Oregon-shaped map had written directions and other relevant information for guests who were planning to drive to the wedding.  Everything was tied together in this suite with rustic, natural twine and the twine had a small maple wood tag hanging from it, engraved with the couple’s wedding date.

Corinne4

For the day of the wedding, Corrine and Tyler had me design a custom, letterpress Mad Lib for their guests to fill out in lieu of a traditional guest book!  I thought the idea was totally adorable and it was so much fun to incorporate the same fonts and so many of the decorative design elements (Squirrels!) from their invitations into their Mad Libs.  I imagine it was very fun for Corinne and Tyler to see what their guests had written after the wedding was over!

Corinne&Tyler6

Thanks so much Corinne & Tyler for letting me be a part of your special day!
