Custom Business Cards | Michael Werner

Michael1

It’s really cool to have really cool friends.  I think that goes without saying, but it’s nice to point it out every now and again.

I met Michael Werner and his wife, Katie, four years ago when both were teaching Journalism at the University of Oregon, and they were looking for someone to create their wedding invitations.  The wedding invitations we did for them are still one of my favorite suites we’ve done, ever, and after doing the job, the three of us became great friends.  Michael and Katie moved north to Seattle not too long after that, but we’ve kept in touch, and I was super-excited when Michael contacted me about creating a set of business cards for him.

Michael’s snazzy cards are black & red and feature some awesome blind embossing of a photograph he took outside of Seattle on one side.  They were printed on super-thick Crane Lettra Bright White paper and feature really bright red edge painting.  They really stand out from the crowd!

Michael2Michael is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker, cinematographer and editor who’s work has been featured by PBS, The New York Times Company, The Associated Press, and The U.S. Olympic Committee, among others.  His work has also been shown at the Cannes International Film Festival.  If you’d like to learn more about Michael and his work, check out his website!

Thanks so much for working with me on these, Michael!  I’m so glad we’ve kept in touch!

Custom Business Cards | Laura Goldenberger Photography

Check out the super-uniquely, awesome business cards we laser-cut and letterpress printed for Laura, of Laura Goldenberger Photography.  Laura is a Los Angeles-based wedding and portrait photographer, with a bright and inviting style!  Her business cards are one of the most unique sets we’ve had the pleasure of creating in a while! As you can see from the photo above, they’re a rather unique shape.  Laura’s cards were designed by OnePartGypsy and executed by us.  These cards were laser-cut from super-thick, 100% cotton, duplex weight paper, and then printed double-sided on our letterpress, in two different colors: turquoise and gold.  I took some photos of the process, which you can see below.  Each individual buffalo was laser-cut with a frame around it ,and then each framed buffalo was individually fed into our press. The front side of Laura’s card was her logo in full-bleed turquoise, which made registration tricky, but created an awesome overall look!  The back side was printed in gold ink with Laura’s website and email address.  After they were printed, each buffalo was removed from its frame by hand.

Aren’t they so cute, and absolutely memorable?!?  I love custom-shaped things!  If you want to learn more about Laura’s work, and check out her beautiful photographs, please visit her website or facebook page.  She primarily shoots in Los Angeles and the Seattle area, but is willing to travel anywhere.  Check her out!

Custom Business Cards | Color & Dust

Earlier this year, we created a gorgeous, timeless, set of custom letterpress business cards for Kelsey Strawn of Color & Dust in Tyler, Texas.  Kelsey hired us to rebrand her photography business and I just love the logo and business card design we came up with!  Above you can see the finished letterpress business cards we made.  Kelsey’s cards feature rounded corners and were printed in silver ink on ultra-thick Crane Lettra 100% cotton duplex 220 lb. paper.  We used a combination of an ultra-modern san-serif font for the logo and a fun handwritten script for the tagline and URL.

As an extra special finishing touch, we also edge painted Kelsey’s cards in silver!  I just love how modern and timeless these are!  Perfect for a photography business!

This is actually the second set of business cards Color & Dust has had us print.  The original set was done in the same design and was printed on a custom, handmade purple paper from Porridge Papers in gold ink.  These cards were super-awesome too, but unfortunately, I fogot to take photos of them.  : (  At any rate, I just love working with Kelsey, and her photography is amazing!  If you’re in or near Tyler, Texas, you should definitely look her up!

Kelsey was kind enough to share a few of her favorite images with us!  All photos below courtesy of Color & Dust.

Aren’t her photos just lovely!?!  I love her heavy use of natural lighting and bright colors!  If I had kiddos, I would totally hire Kelsey to do family portraits or pictures of my kids.  Seriously, if you’re in Texas, go check out Color & Dust!

Donna Boucher Photography

Check out these awesome business-related items we printed for Donna of Donna Boucher Photography in Madison, Wisconsin last month!  Donna found out about Twin Ravens Press from Crystal Kluge (thanks Crystal!).  Donna had hired Crystal to design a logo for her photography business and then needed a letterpress printer to print the design on business cards, thank you notes and on some signage.  Above you can see all of the pieces we created for Donna together.

The large print that you see in the top left above is just of Donna’s logo.  The logo features a camera (hand-drawn by Crystal Kluge) and her name in calligraphy, also done by Crystal.  Donna loved the logo that Crystal created for her so much that she wanted some signage to use for her business, or just to frame and keep as a keepsake, so we printed these on 5″x7″ paper, so that they would be suitable for hanging and framing.

We also designed and printed some simple, yet lovely business cards for Donna using her new logo.  The logo was printed in black letterpress ink on one side of the card and her contact information was printed on the back.  The font we chose for the contact information was also designed by Crystal Kluge (it’s called Silverstein).  I just love the way that these cards are playful and contemporary, yet professional all at the same time.  Donna does mostly children’s and portrait photography, so we needed a little bit of both (playfulness and professionalism) to really convey the nature of her business, and I think these cards do an excellent job of it!

Last, but certainly not least, Donna also had us create a set of matching thank you note cards for her to send out to her clients.  The notecards are a 4bar size, letterpress printed in black ink on 100% cotton Crane Lettra paper and come with coordinating pool blue envelopes from Waste Not Paper Company.  Aren’t they just too cute?!?

I had a wonderful time working with Donna on this project and working with Crystal Kluge is always awesome!  If you like the look of Donna’s logo and wish to have a similar one designed for your own business contact Crystal!  And, if you’re in the Madison, Wisconsin area and are looking for a wonderful Children’s and Portrait Photographer, get in touch with Donna.  You can also check out Donna’s website and blog to see more of her gorgeous photography!  Thanks so much Donna and Crystal!
