Send It As A Postcard!

DestinyThankYou1Check out these awesome, letterpress, post card, thank you cards that we just finished for recent newly-weds Destiny & Daniel of Eugene, Oregon!  These postcard thank you’s feature a digitally printed photograph from their wedding on a linen paper that we then custom duplexed onto our 100% cotton letterpress paper and then printed their postcard design on the back!  Doing this is a fantastic and seamless way to incorporate a photograph into your letterpress printed piece!

DestinyThankYou4  DestinyThankYou3These post cards are 6″x4″ and are a perfect way to send a quick wedding thank you without having to order envelopes or use full-priced envelope stamps!  I think this would be a lovely idea for a save-the-date, shower invitation, or holiday card as well!  We can even foil stamp extra wording on the front along with the photograph, if you’d like!

Check out this close-up of the awesome letterpress impression we were able to create on the back:

DestinyThankYou2Whether your celebration and style are vintage or modern, sending a post card is sure to be a hit!  Thanks so much for working with us on these Destiny!!

Save the Date | Meghan & Terence are Getting Married!

It’s hard to believe it, but fall is just around the corner, folks!  Check out these gorgeous fall-themed Save-the-Date coasters that we printed for Meghan and Terrance this past spring!  They were designed by the father-of-the-bride, and printed by us in two ink colors: orange and chocolate brown on premium, duplex Holyoke 100% cotton rag paper.  I love the fancy leaf border on these!  They’re so classy!  Each save-the-date coaster was paired with a matching cream-colored envelope.

If you’re getting married this fall, and haven’t ordered your invitations yet, you had best get a move on it!  If you’re getting married next fall, it’s never too early to start thinking about your save-the-dates!

Save the Date | Tiffany & Mike are Getting Married!

I’ve shown this design once before, but it’s one of my favorites for a save-the-date!  We created this set of Save-the-Dates for California couple, Tiffany & Mike, who are getting married at the end of September.  These were printed in one ink color: chocolate brown, on 100% cotton paper and were paired with a kraft string + button envelope!  Aren’t they sweet?!?

*As you may have noticed over the past few days, the content of my blog posts has been getting shorter.  The reason for this is that trying to write long, detailed posts, and then getting busy with orders, was often leading to me not posting at all.  Because I love sharing photos of the new, cool things we’re working on with you, I’d rather have many posts that are light on text and heavy on pictures, than no posts at all for multiple months.  With that said, if there’s ever images of a set of stationery here that aren’t accompanied by a detailed post, please feel free to contact me about it, and I’d be more than happy to answer any specific questions you may have.  🙂

Weddings | Shelley & Laurence

Earlier this week we showed off a really beautiful set of pink and grey wedding invitations that we printed for New York City couple Jihee and Isaac.  In that post, I talked a lot about how Jihee designed her own invitations and how it was so much fun to work with her on printing them.  Well, her invitations were actually not the first set of Jihee’s designs that we’ve printed.  A few months prior to working with Jihee on her own invitations, we were hired by Jihee’s sister, Shelley, to print hers.  Jihee designed this lovely suite as a wedding gift to her sister, and we were very excited to work with both of them on printing them!

Shelley and Laurence’s suite included a letterpress printed invitation and reply card, and a folded thank you card.

Below is the invitation all by itself!  I love the different weights of fonts that Jihee used to accentuate Shelley and Laurence’s names, and I absolutely love her tree motif that she carried through all of the pieces in this suite.  All of Shelley’s pieces were printed in navy blue ink on 140# Holyoke Natural Paper.

Shelley and Laurence’s reply card was a 4bar size designed to match the invite.  Again, I love the use of the modern san-serif font in different weights and how the tree motif was included in the design of all of the stationery pieces.

Below is the 4bar size, folded thank you card that we printed to match.  The thank you cards simply had the tree motif in the bottom right hand corner.  They were blank on the inside so that Laurence and Shelley could write a personal message to each friend or family member.

Prior to printing their main invitations, we also got to print Laurence and Shelley’s Save-the-Dates.  Their Save-the-Dates were an A6 size, printed in the same navy ink on Holyoke Natural paper.  They featured Jihee’s tree motif at the top and all of the Save-the-Date information centered below it.

Aren’t all of the pieces in this suite just lovely?!?  It was so wonderful to work with Laurence and Shelley on these, and to get to work with Jihee’s beautiful design work twice in the same year!  Thanks so much again Jihee, Shelley & Laurence!  All the best!

Save the Date | Alexandra & Ryan

Happy Monday, ladies & gents!  See the cute couple in the polaroid on the tandem bike with the whippets?  That’s Allie & Ryan.  They got married this past fall in Sonoma, California and hired us to print their Save-the-Dates last spring.  Their save-the-dates were pretty awesome and definitely included some things they cherish as a couple in the design:

One of Allie & Ryan’s friends designed these totally cute save-the-dates that you see above featuring both the tandem bike and the whippets!  Isn’t it cool?!?  I love the fresh, modern and hip aesthetic of the design and I totally dig their colors!  Allie wanted to make sure that her printed pieces were as eco-friendly as possible, so we printed these with vegetable-based inks on 100% bamboo paper.  Bamboo is an extremely renewable resource for paper fiber and makes a thick and lovely off-white paper that’s perfect for letterpress printing!  One of the above photos was included with each save the date they sent out and their matching bamboo envelopes were printed with their return address on the flap.

I just love how awesome these are!  I’ve actually been in contact with Ryan’s sister, Jessica, recently too, and may be helping her with business cards for her awesome floral design business!  Stay tuned for those!

Thanks again Allie & Ryan!  Congratulations!

Save the Date | Gina and Matt are Getting Married!

Check out this gorgeous set of Save-the-Dates that we created for New York City couple, Gina and Matt, a couple of weeks ago!  Gina and Matt live in New York, but will be getting married this summer in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Gina had seen a design that we had printed for another bride last year that was originally designed by Christina Reinersmann of Maré C, on Style Me Pretty, and liked it so much that she hired us to create a similar design, in her color scheme for her own wedding.  The above image shows her Save-the-Date and it’s corresponding envelope.  This Save-the-Date measures 5.5″ square and was printed on 100% cotton rag Holyoke Paper in one ink color: a reddish, aubergine purple.  We matched the purple ink color for the save-the-dates to Gina’s envelopes, which are a 5.75″ square size from Waste Not Paper Company.  The envelopes were then printed using similar decorative elements, and the same fonts, in metallic silver ink.  You can see some closer images of the printing on the envelopes below.

Isn’t the design running up the left side of this card, just beautiful?!?  I really love how these turned out and I think they will do a wonderful job setting the tone of the wedding for Gina and Matt’s guests.  Gina also hired a friend of ours, Lori Raines, of Lori Raines Calligraphy Studio, to do the calligraphy for all of her envelopes.  I’m sure that’s going to be just gorgeous as well!

Thanks so much for working with us on these Gina and Matt!  I’m excited to start working with you on your formal invitations!  Talk to you soon!

Save the Date | Terry & Maurice are Getting Married!

Check out this classy, black & white set of save-the-dates we printed last week for New York City couple, Terry and Maurice!  Terry commissioned the drawing you see at the top of this piece from an artist in New York City, and then sent it to us to be incorporated in to her Save-the-Dates!  She and Maurice wanted a classic layout that would compliment both their drawing, and be reflective of their venue: The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland.  For the design of these cards, we chose a long and skinny #10 size card and envelope, and printed both the drawing and copy in a single ink color: black.  The paper that Terry and Maurice chose is 100% cotton rag Holyoke Paper in Antique White, with soft white envelopes from Waste Not Paper Company.

In the above group of photos you can see the save-the-date on the left.  I love how the typography that we used for this Save-the-Date really matches the style of the drawing at the top so well!  It’s a really fun, contemporary script, and I think it paired so nicely with the other elements of this design.  You can see in the top right image that we used the same fonts from the invite for Terry and Maurice’s return address on their envelopes, so everything would match perfectly.  In the bottom right image, check out how the text just sinks into the 100% cotton paper from the letterpress printing.  I do love gorgeous black letterpress printing on white or ivory paper – it’s just so classy!

And, lastly, one more cute close-up of the couple, in hand-drawn, letterpress printed form.  Aren’t they cute!?!  I’m excited to begin working on Terry and Maurice’s formal invitations in the next couple of months.  If you love how these save-the-dates turned out, check back in later in the year to see their formals!  Thanks so much Terry and Maurice!  Talk to you soon!

Save the Date | Jen & BG are Getting Married!

If you want a classy and elegant, but not necessarily “traditional” Save-the-Date card for your upcoming wedding, you may want to consider an elegantly designed and letterpress printed Save-the-Date postcard, like the one we created for Jen and BG’s upcoming wedding in April!  We finished printing the lovely save-the-dates that you see above a couple of weeks ago, and I’m still really excited about how they turned out!  These postcards are printed in a deep, rich, black ink on 100% cotton Duplex Crane Lettra Pearl White Paper.  Because the paper is a duplex weight, these cards are super-thick, which allowed for a nice letterpress impression on both sides, without any push-back from one side to the other, and they can also go through the machines at the post office, without getting munched!

These postcards are an A6 size, and feature a gorgeous, super flourish-y text treatment of “April Fools’ Day” on the front and lots of fun flourishes, and a variety of fonts on the backside for all of the necessary Save-the-Date information.  Check out some of the photos we took below!

I just love the mix of fun fonts that Jen had us use for the design of these cards!  There’s nine different fonts, total, in this design.  Using that many fonts is tricky to do well, but I think the design of these turned out just awesome!

Thanks so much for working with us on these Jen and BG!  I can’t wait to start designing your wedding invitations!  Talk to you soon!

Save the Date | Vi and Lalo are Getting Married!

If you have been reading this blog for a while, you know that I LOVE a good, modern design when I see one.  I’ve been so excited to show off these awesomely modern, save-the-date coasters since I printed them last week, that I was even more excited this morning when I got an e-mail from Vi letting me know that she and her fiancé received them yesterday, loved them, and that I could put them up!  Check them out!

We designed Vi and Lalo’s Save-the-Date to be printed on a 4″ square coaster, with rounded corners, in black ink.  The design incorporates a fun mix of über-modern fonts, and all of the text is printed on an angle across the front of the coaster.  The words “Save the Date”, and the date to be saved, are printed entering from the top of the coaster, and the couples name’s, the phrase “Plans are Brewing” (I loved this coaster pun and it was totally Vi’s idea), the location, and “Formal invitation to follow” were printed at an opposing angle coming in from the bottom left.  I love these!  I love the fonts.  I love the angle of the printing.  I love that they are coasters, and I love that they are black and white.  These also came with coordinating little, square 4.25″ black envelopes that have the couple’s return address printed in the same fonts on the back flap in silver ink.

If you’re thinking you want black envelopes or black paper for your letterpress printed piece, silver ink is a fabulous option for printing on it.  White letterpress ink is actually clear, and is very translucent, so it doesn’t show up on black (or other dark) papers.  It’s mostly used as a mixer to lighten other colors.  Instead, printing with a light metallic color, like silver, can help us achieve the same effect, while having your printing be visible and most importantly, readable for the post office and your guests.

Aren’t these awesome!?!  I’m so excited!  Vi and Lalo have been so much fun to work with so far and I’m looking forward to designing and printing their invitations very soon!  Thanks Vi & Lalo!

Save the Date | Erin & Adam are Getting Married!

The day before yesterday, I finished I really pretty set of Save-the-Dates for local couple, Erin and Adam.  I’ve known Erin for quite some time, and, although we’ve never been the best of friends, I was still pretty excited when she asked me to do her Save-the-Dates and wedding invitations on her friend Heidi’s recommendation.  Erin and Adam’s Save-the-Dates are an A6 size card printed in three ink colors: a light spring green, pink and orange.  They were printed on 100% cotton rag Holyoke paper in Antique White, and were then matted on to a larger, Jackpine Green, A6 card from Green Paper Company, to give them a 1/4″ green border all the way around.  These Save-the-Dates were then paired with an orange envelope, also from Green Paper Company, that had the couple’s address letterpress printed on the back flap in pink.

For this design, Erin knew that she wanted Gerber Daisies to be the main decorative element.  They are her favorite flower and she’s planning on having them at the wedding.  Plus, they come in lots of gorgeous colors, which allowed us to incorporate lots of colors into her printing.  I created two Gerber Daisies, one in pink and one in orange, on the left side of the card and then we laid out the text in a classic roman typeface to the right of the flowers in all three ink colors (pink, orange and green).  I really love how the matting on this save-the-date really frames everything well and adds another shade of green to the piece.

In the above grouping of photos you can see the gorgeous letterpress impression of the daisies on the Holyoke paper and you can get a better look at the decoration on their envelopes.  We’re also working with Erin & Adam on their main invitation suite, and I’m super-excited to begin designing it.  If you like how these turned out, check back in a couple of months to see the rest of their paper goods.  Thanks so much Erin & Adam!  Talk to you soon!
