Weddings | Priscilla & David

It’s been a little chilly out here in Oregon, so I thought, for a change of weather-pace, I’d show off this awesome set of pocket-folder invitations that we created for Florida couple, Priscilla and David, last year.  Priscilla and David were married last May in sunny Key West and their invitations definitely have a warm, inviting, beach-y feel.  If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you may remember their awesome palm tree save-the-dates from last year.  If not, go check those out too!

Priscilla and David’s colors were orange, green and chocolate brown and we were able to incorporate all three into their stationery design to create a very awesome suite!  Above you can see all of the pieces in the suite together, which included their pocket folder invitation and envelope, a reply card and envelope, directions, accommodations, and reception cards, a custom letterpress map and key, and a schedule of events card.  We also made them a very cool custom belly band!

If you were to have received one of Priscilla and David’s invitations, below is what you would have seen when you first opened the envelope.  Priscilla and David’s envelopes were a white monarch style envelope from Green Paper Company that was custom lined with an olive green lokta paper from Nepal.  The pocket folder which enclosed all of the other pieces was a chocolate brown folder and we created an awesome custom belly band to seal it shut!  The belly band featured a large band of the same olive green lokta that we used for their envelope liners, with three strands of natural raffia twine, and a layered, square medallion.  The medallion was made out of a square of Kagome Bamboo paper, olive green lokta, and a letterpress piece with their names and wedding date in chocolate brown ink with a little green palm tree in the background.  These were super time-intensive to make, but the look was just amazing!

Check out the awesome textures of their belly band!  The letterpress printing was amazing and the Kagome Bamboo, lokta, and raffia just add so much extra depth and texture!

Below is what you would see when you opened up the pocket folder!  Priscilla and David’s wedding invitation was printed in three ink colors: green, orange, and chocolate brown, and was mounted into the folder with a lokta and kagome bamboo double-matt.  The pocket on the right contained five different inserts.

The texture of everything in this suite was totally awesome!  Priscilla chose our house Holyoke 100% cotton rag paper in Bone White for her invitation and all of her inserts.  It’s such a lovely paper and takes the impression of the letterpress printing so well!

Below left and bottom right are close-ups of their invitation.  I love their bright, tropical color scheme!  The image in the top right below shows their green return address that we letterpress printed on each envelope.  All of the custom calligraphy that you see throughout this suite was done by the wonderful and talented Michele Clark of Calligraphy by Michele.

Each of Priscilla and David’s inserts were designed to match the invite.  Below you can see their 4bar size reply card, which was letterpress printed in two ink colors: olive green and orange.  I love all of the little tropical icons we used at the top of the insert cards and next to the events on the reply!  Below, top right, is the envelope we paired with Priscilla’s reply card.  This envelope was printed with chocolate brown ink and featured their same palm tree graphic from the invitation on the left hand side.  Below, bottom right, is an image of their reception card by itself.  This card was smaller than the RSVP and was printed in a single color: olive green.

Above, priscilla also included an olive green directions card that featured a wonderful little starfish motif!  Below left, is a separate insert for accommodations and transportation information.  Below right, is the back side of Priscilla and David’s custom map.  The back was a key that was created by the very talented Crystal Kluge.  Scroll down to see the actual map itself!

Each invitation included the above A6 size map printed in olive green ink.  The map design was created by Crystal Kluge and featured adorable illustrations for all of the important Key West landmarks for Priscilla and David’s wedding.  Check out the detail below!  It’s awesome!

Above, bottom left: We letterpress printed a larger version of this map in black ink that you can see above that Crystal hand-watercolored for Priscilla and David.  It’s such a lovely keepsake and piece of artwork that they could frame and hang up in their home after the wedding was over!

Lastly, each invitation included a schedule of events card that was printed in two ink colors: olive green and orange.  This card had the places and times of each event, as well as a website URL for guests to reference for additional information.

I loved working on this suite and I imagine that Priscilla and David’s Key West wedding was warm, tropical and absolutely beautiful!  Thanks so much for working on these with us last year Priscilla!  All the best to you and David!

Beautiful Photos from Boracay, Philippines

You may remember that last summer I worked on a really beautiful wedding invitation that was made up of letterpress calligraphy and blind embossed elements, for a couple getting married in Boracay, Philippines in January 2011.  That couple was Chatie and Hanzy, and you can see the post I did about their wedding stationery here.  Or, if you don’t want to click on the link, below is a reminder photo of how their wedding invitation turned out.  This invite had a blind embossed monogram at the top, and blind embossed tropical motifs along the bottom and right side.  The text of the invitation was printed in a light turquoise blue and the calligraphy for it was created by Fran Heider of Little Flower Calligraphy.  Isn’t it pretty?!?

Well, I was super-excited to hear from Chatie the other day, almost six months after we completed their invitations.  She e-mailed me to say thank you again for creating her and her now-husband’s wedding invitations, and to say that the wedding went absolutely beautifully.  She even sent pictures.  : )  Check them out below!

Such a gorgeous and wonderfully nice couple, and I love their super-tropical pictures!  Thanks so much for staying in touch with us Chatie!  If you ever need anything else, please don’t hesitate to ask.  All the best!

Save the Date | Priscilla & David are Getting Married!

Check out these gorgeous and delightfully tropical save-the-date cards I finished this past Monday for a couple in Jacksonville, Florida!  Priscilla and David wanted something bright, tropical and cheerful for their Save-the-Date cards that would really set the tone for their upcoming wedding in May.  This design features two ink colors: a bright green and orange, two lovely, modern fonts, and a vintage palm tree engraving.  The Save-the-Date card was printed on 100% cotton rag Holyoke paper in Antique White and was paired with a custom-lined orange envelope from Waste Not Paper Company.

Check out the Save-the-Date by itself below!  This card is an A2 size and I absolutely love Priscilla’s bright color choices and the vintage palm tree engraving that we used.  The letterpress impression that was created during the printing process is just stunning as well!

Another absolutely gorgeous aspect of these Save-the-Dates are their envelopes!  These envelopes are an A2 orange envelope from Waste Not Paper Company, letterpress printed with the couple’s return address in green ink on the flap.  Priscilla then picked out a lovely Japanese Chiyogami paper with a beautiful palm frond pattern in greens, tans, silver and gold and we custom die-cut it into envelope liners and lined her envelopes with it.  I think this liner really ties the set together and makes the envelopes coordinate with the save-the-date cards perfectly!  Priscilla also hired the lovely Michele Clark of Calligraphy by Michele to calligraph her envelopes as well, and I’m sure that the calligraphy for these (like all of Michele’s work that I’ve seen) is going to be just beautiful.

I’ve had a wonderful time so far working with Priscilla and David and I’m really excited to begin working on their actual invitations in the New Year!  Thanks so much Priscilla & David!  I’ll be talking to you soon!

Weddings | Lauren & Nicholas

Check out these pretty, single color, traditional, yet tropical, letterpress wedding invitations we created for Florida couple, Lauren and Nicholas, earlier this year!  I love how classic, but beautiful this set of wedding invitations is!  All pieces in this suite were printed on Crane Lettra Pearl White Paper in one ink color: a lovely, tropical green and came with matching Crane Lettra envelopes.  The suite included a letterpress invitation, reception card, inner and outer envelopes and a digitally printed reply postcard (which is not pictured above, but you will see farther down in the post).

Below you can see Lauren and Nicholas’ invitation all by itself.  This invitation is a standard A7 size,  and was printed in two lovely fonts – a delicate, but not too flourishy script for the majority of the text and a lovely wood-type look-alike font for their names!  Lauren provided us with the vintage palm tree image that we used to decorate all of her stationery pieces, and it letterpress printed just beautifully!

For her reply cards, Lauren had several vintage Florida postcards digitally printed with her response information.  Twin Ravens Press didn’t do the printing for these, but I thought that the idea to use vintage postcard imagery for a reply postcard was just so cool that I had to show it off to you.  The left image of the above grouping is the original postcard, and the version on the right is the new one Lauren created (with the help of an awesome, graphics-savvy friend) for the reply postcards.  I think these are super-fun and really set the tone for a sunny, tropical, Florida wedding!

In the above grouping of images, you can see Lauren and Nicholas’ reception card and the back flap of their invite envelopes.  The reception card was styled very similarly to their invitation, except that it was smaller and was a horizontal rather than vertical orientation.  We used the same palm tree motif, fonts and ink color to tie the whole suite together!  On the bottom right you can see the flap of their invitation envelope.  It also featured the tropical palm motif and the script font that we’ve been using all along for their return address.  I think this suite turned out so lovely and was just perfect for a Florida wedding!

Thanks again Lauren & Nicholas and Congratulations!

Weddings | Chatie & Hanzy

2010 seems to be just flying by folks!  While we’re still well in the middle of printing wedding invitations for 2010 though, I’m excited to show off our first 2011 invitation to you today!  We designed these lovelies for a couple getting married in the Philippines this coming January and letterpress printed them last week.

I love how warm and tropical this design feels!  Chatie had us design and print her invitation, which is a standard A7 size, and was printed on Crane Lettra 100% cotton Pearl White paper.  We created a lovely and whimsical starfish/bubble pattern along the bottom and right edge that was blind embossed for a wonderful, textural effect.  We also created and blind embossed a fun interwoven monogram of Chatie & Hanzy’s initials for the top.  All of the wording is handwritten calligraphy by Fran Heider of Little Flower Calligraphy.  We’ve worked with Fran on numerous projects and her work is always absolutely gorgeous!  All of the calligraphy was made into a letterpress printing plate and printed by us, using a light turquoise ink.  Check out some of the details below.

I absolutely loved working with Chatie to create her invitations, and I know that her wedding in the Philippines this upcoming January is going to be just beautiful!  Congratulations Chatie & Hanzy and all the best to you!
