Weddings | Don & Stephanie

Happy Friday Everybody!  This afternoon I’m really excited to show off an awesome set of wedding invitations that we made for a Eugene couple earlier this year!  We’ve worked with Don and Stephanie on quite a few projects in the past, including business stationery for their company, Oregon Social Media.  I was super-excited earlier this year when Don & Steph came back to me to collaborate on their wedding stationery.  They were married this past June in the small town of Jacksonville, in southern Oregon, and wanted their invites to reflect a modern sensibility, as well as the rustic-ness of Jacksonville, and Oregon on the whole.  What you see above is what we came up with!

Don & Stephanie’s wedding invitations featured an awesome, letterpress-printed A7 invite that was blind embossed with a fun woodgrain pattern, and printed in black ink, a coordinating invitation envelope, and a smaller, laser cut website/rsvp card.  The main motif for their invites was the state of Oregon with a small heart in the bottom left corner where Jacksonville is.  I was excited that we were able to incorporate this little state motif into all three of their pieces.  The invitation and rsvp/website card were held together with baker’s twine in Don & Stephanie’s wedding colors: white, grey and yellow.

Their invitation was paired with a coordinating gravel grey envelope from Waste Not Paper Company with Don and Stephanie’s address letterpress printed on the back flap.

Check out the close-up image above of their invitation!  We used a full-bleed blind embossed woodgrain pattern to decorate the background of this invite and then printed their invitation text over the top in black ink.  I love the fun mix of funky, modern fonts that we were able to incorporate!  You’ll also notice in the images below that the state motif was used to decorate the bottom!

One of the most exciting aspects of this invitation suite for me was Don and Steph’s rsvp/website card.  We designed this card to be in the shape of the Oregon motif they had used on the other pieces, but in order to give the piece a little more interest, we laser cut the shape of the card and the little heart out of thin, maple wood veneer.  Rather than printing the text onto the veneer, we engraved it with the laser cutter, so that it had the same depth and texture as the letterpress impression on the other pieces!

Twin Ravens Press is happy to work with you to design small wooden laser cut pieces to incorporate into your invitations or other projects, like this one.  We’re also happy to work with you to create engraved wooden invitations, business cards, and or other stationery.  These reply/website cards were made out of maple wood, but we have several different wood varieties in a variety of colors and textures for you to choose from!  I love the way that this complimented the woodgrain pattern of Don & Steph’s invitation and I love how unique such a small piece can make a whole suite feel.  I mean, how often do you get an engraved, wooden card in the mail?  Not often, and they’re so cool!!

Thanks so much again, Don & Stephanie, for working with us on your wedding invitations!  I always enjoy working with the two of you and I can’t wait to see what projects you have in store for us next!
