Weddings | Ryan and Makena
/0 Comments/in Weddings /by KristinCheck out these awesome invitations we letterpress printed earlier this spring for Eugene, Oregon couple, Ryan & Makena! The style of these invitations is very different than a lot of the invitations we print, which made them super-fun to do! Ryan and Makena had their friend, and British Illustrator, Alice Bowsher, draw their custom invitation artwork and then they hired us to print it! I really love Alice’s thick, sketchy, hand-drawn style and the way she’s able to fit so much visual information and interest into each one of her compositions! If you check out her website, or her Instagram (seriously, do it: she’s amazing), you’ll see that she also incorporates adorable robots, birds, and other fuzzy critters, as well as people, into much of her work, which really pulls at our heartstrings.
The artwork was sized to fit a standard 5″x7″ invitation and was printed in black ink on Holyoke 100% cotton Natural White paper. I love that the paper Ryan & Makena picked isn’t a stark white. The warmth of the paper I feel really adds to the warmth and cheeriness of the illustration work.
For the back of the invitation, we figured we needed to print a little more information and details for the ceremony. In laying this out, I wanted to keep the feel of the typography consistent with the front of their invitation, so I set all of the type in thicker, black, fonts that look at least somewhat handwritten, while still being very legible.
I really love how this invitation came together and I was really excited to get to work with a new artist’s work! Thanks so much Alice, Ryan, and Makena for working with me! If you ever need anything else, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
Weddings | Josie and Matt
/0 Comments/in Weddings /by KristinTwin Ravens Press would like to send a big congratulations out to our clients, Josie & Matt who were married at a sweet farm ceremony in Brownsville, Oregon, last Saturday! Josie and Matt were married outside of a historic Victorian farmhouse and garden at AtaVista Farm which was built in 1876. Josie wanted their wedding invitations to be simple, beautiful, and incorporate their wedding colors, which she described as “Peaches ‘n Cream”. They ended up choosing to modify our Yours Truly Wedding Suite to fit their stationery needs.
Josie and Matt’s take on the Yours Truly suite featured an A7 size wedding invitation and 4bar size rsvp postcard that were printed in a single color, a nice deep coral/peach. It also came with a coordinating invitation envelope in that same coral/peach color printed with their return address. Josie chose a really warm “Natural White” 100% cotton paper from Holyoke for the invitations and reply cards. We also rounded all the corners on the two cards to give them an even softer touch.
The top of Josie & Matt’s invitation featured the image of the Victorian farmhouse at AtaVista Farm, which you can also see on their website. Aside from adding the little photo motif to the top, we kept the remainder of the fonts in the design consistent with our original Yours Truly suite. I love the way Josie & Matt’s names looked in the modern, all-lowercase script font that we used!
To save a little on postage and paper, Josie & Matt chose to do a reply postcard in lieu of a card and envelopes for their rsvps. This postcard was printed double-sided and had their standard RSVP information on one side and their return address on the back. This card was also printed in the same peachy-coral ink color we used for their main invitation.
Aren’t they pretty?!? Thanks so much Josie & Matt for working with us on your wedding invitations! I’m sure the wedding itself was just beautiful!! Congratulations!

Weddings | Lilly & Patrick
/0 Comments/in Weddings /by Kristin
A little more than a year ago, my mom remarried a wonderful guy, and in doing so, I, at the age of thirty, gained two step-brothers and a super-cool, somewhat bohemian, step-sister in Montana. My step-sister, Lilly, got engaged shortly thereafter and is getting married later this summer in Bozeman. I was overjoyed to design a set of custom letterpress wedding invitations just for her and her fiancé!
Lilly and Patrick’s invitations feature a hand-drawn range of the Tetons, which is the backdrop for their wedding venue. I was going for a rustic, yet classy, vibe which incorporated their local mountain range with some other sweet Montana-y touches. All of the pieces in their suite feature navy blue letterpress printing on thick, 100% cotton paper with accents of copper foil stamping throughout.
Lilly and Patrick’s standard, A7-size invitation features a hand-drawn sketch of the mountain range outside of their home in Montana, with a custom laser-cutout revealing the sky above it. To create the sky, I used handmade blue Lokta paper from Nepal and printed the stars that will form constellations on their wedding night in gold foil, with letterpress printed lines connecting them. In the right light, all of the little stars seem to glow in the night sky, which created a really beautiful, almost three-dimensional effect.
We used a combination of modern script and serif fonts for the text of their invitation printed in navy blue ink. Their names were accented with copper foil, as is a sweet heart shape in the mountains.
On the backside of Lilly & Patrick’s invitation we printed a set of driving directions and a custom, hand-drawn map. The map and directions also feature navy blue letterpress printing and copper foil stamping.
Their reply card featured the same mountain range sketch and copper heart accent. We also laser-cut the top of the card in the shape of the mountains to mimic the cutting that was done on the invitation.
The reply card was paired with a matching navy blue envelope with the address printed in copper foil. The invitation envelopes are a natural paper-bag color with navy ink.
Another prominent element in Lilly & Patrick’s invitations was a reoccurring Montana shape with a small heart over Bozeman. This motif was printed below the address on their invitation envelope and was also used to create a custom laser-cut wooden tag to tie their invitations together with. The tag was cut from cherry veneer and had their wedding date engraved into it. This was then tied around each invitation with rustic-looking jute twine.
I am so happy with how unique, rustic, beautiful, and special these invitations turned out! I love that I was able to combine several elements I love into their design and that they helped set the stage for my step-sister and future-step-brother-in-law’s wedding to come!
Lilly, I love you! Thanks so much for working with me on these!! xoxo

Custom Business Cards | Soul Restoration Project
/0 Comments/in Business Stationery /by Kristin(Image Courtesy of The Soul Restoration Project)
Happy Friday, Letterpress Lovers! Today, I wanted to share with you a really awesome set of business cards we created for Eugene’s most awesome soul band, Soul Restoration Project! With most of their repertoire in ’60s and ’70s soul tunes, SRP “provides the foundation for grooving, shaking, dancing, and widespread pleasure through adult, yet family-friendly, music.”
Soul Restoration Project’s business cards were printed on a custom duplexed turquoise-ish blue paper stock with a laid (ie. paper that has a finely ribbed appearance) finish. (There’s all kinds of innuendo there that I want to take advantage of, but won’t). Their logo was printed on the front side in black ink with accents of white and shiny gold foil!
The backsides of the cards feature the logo and white accents from the front and has their Facebook page and email address info.
SRP has a sweet gig coming up tomorrow: Eugene’s 3rd Annual Winterfest Music Festival at the Eugene Veteran’s Club. They also play at Mac’s at The Vet’s Club every other Thursday night. You can check out Mac’s calendar for more details on that. They also play for festivals, weddings, dance parties, and more! Eugene: if you aren’t familiar with this band, you seriously need to check them out! Also, they have rad business cards. 😉
Thanks, SRP!
Save the Date | Hillary & Peter are Getting Married!
/0 Comments/in Weddings, Save the Date /by KristinCheck out these fun, festive, letterpress save-the-date cards we created for local, Eugene couple, Hillary & Peter for their upcoming wedding at Sweet Cheeks Winery in July! When Hillary met with me at the beginning of this year to discuss her design options, she really fell in love with our new Confetti Thank You Cards, which you can see below, and wanted to do some sort of similar motif for her save-the-dates.
I loved the idea of incorporating the two-color confetti pattern into more stationery, so we changed up the colors just a little bit and came up with these:
Hillary and Peter’s save-the-dates are a double-sided postcard featuring black letterpress ink and gold foil stamping on the front side, and their return address and space for writing their recipients’ addresses in black ink on the reverse side. Hillary chose a fun combination of fonts that to me, look vaguely reminiscent of the elvish writing from Lord of the Rings. These save-the-dates were printed on 100% cotton paper. Check out how shiny the gold foil is below!
I just love how these turned out and can’t wait to continue working with Hillary and Peter on their main invitations!
If you’re interested in working with us on fancy letterpress printing and/or foil stamping for your upcoming wedding (or anything else), get in touch! We’d love to work with you!
